The ticket confirmation lands on a Tuesday night, and suddenly next year has a shape. A square on the calendar gets circled. A group chat gets renamed. And the cloak you're about to order doesn't exist yet.
That's the surprising part of made to order. When you check out at Magus Fawn, nothing is waiting on a shelf. The art is ready, but the fabric hasn't been printed and the hood hasn't been cut. Over the next couple of weeks your piece gets printed, cut and sewn, in your size, for you. Then it travels. Then one afternoon it's on your doorstep, and you're in the hallway with the hood up, weeks before the gates open.
This guide is about the stretch between the click and the doorstep.
We're Magus and Lylyth Fawn, Los Angeles visionary artists and lifelong festival people, and every piece we sell is made to order. Here's what that means, the honest timeline, and order-by dates for all 42 festivals on our calendar with announced 2027 dates.
What does "made to order" mean?
Made to order means a garment isn't produced until someone buys it. At Magus Fawn, every piece starts after you check out: our production partners print the art into the fabric, cut it and sew it in the size you chose, then ship it straight to you. Nothing sits in a warehouse waiting for a buyer.
Manufacturers call it build to order, "a production approach where products are not built until a confirmed order is received" (Wikipedia). For us it looks like this:
- Print. Your design is dye-sublimated into the fabric. The ink becomes part of the fiber instead of a layer on top, so the colors won't fade and the image won't crack.
- Cut. The printed fabric is cut to the pattern for your size.
- Sew. For a cloak, that means the faux-fur lining, the double front zipper, the heavy drawstrings and all four pockets.
We design every piece ourselves; our fulfillment partners in Chatsworth, California, and in China do the printing, cutting and sewing.
In myth, the phoenix is the bird that is born again, rising "from the ashes of its predecessor" (Wikipedia). Every one of ours is born fresh, too. The Dark Phoenix women's festival cloak ($250) spreads a silver-white phoenix across a charcoal-black back, its feathers drawn like engraved metal around a radiant star medallion, with gothic spires rising toward the hem. Choose a black or white faux-fur lining, in a unisex fit from XS to 5XL.
How long does made-to-order festival clothing take?
At Magus Fawn, production takes 7–11 business days and delivery takes 6–14 business days, so a made-to-order piece reaches you in 13 to 25 business days. That's roughly three to five weeks, a little longer when a holiday falls inside the window. Plan around the 25-day end, and anything sooner is a bonus.
| Pace | Production | Delivery | Total | About |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fastest | 7 business days | 6 business days | 13 business days | 2½ weeks |
| Middle | 9 business days | 10 business days | 19 business days | 4 weeks |
| Slowest | 11 business days | 14 business days | 25 business days | 5 weeks, plus any holidays |
A business day is a weekday that isn't a holiday. We count US federal holidays, the dates the Office of Personnel Management publishes each year, plus the day after Thanksgiving. So an order placed on Wednesday, February 10, 2027 lands by Thursday, March 18 even at the slowest pace: the count skips ten weekend days and Presidents' Day on February 15.
The wait is what people ask about most. On Reddit, a raver looking for plus-size-friendly rave brands mentioned a made-to-order label that seemed to take forever to arrive, and Etsy shoppers ask how long is too long, one of them about a wait stretching to seven months.
Our answer is a number you can put on a calendar: 25 business days at the slow end.
Why does made-to-order clothing take longer than fast fashion?

Ready-made clothing, fast fashion included, is produced before anyone orders it, so when you buy, it only has to be packed and shipped. A Magus Fawn piece is printed, cut and sewn after you order, so the making happens inside your wait instead of months before it. The extra days are the craft, happening for you.
Think of it as two clocks running one after the other: production while your piece is printed, cut and sewn, then delivery while it travels. Weekends and holidays pause both, which is why we quote ranges instead of a single date.
For the patient ones, we'd suggest the Golden Scarab. In Egyptian religion, the scarab-faced god Khepri represents the rising sun, and by extension "creation and the renewal of life" (Wikipedia). Every morning, the sun arrives on schedule. The Golden Scarab men's festival cloak ($250) scatters gold flecks over black and spreads a scarab across the shoulders: gold wings edged in violet-blue, a jeweled teal body and a rose-red sun disc beneath a little blue-and-gold pyramid, with gold glyphs trailing down the sleeves. Unisex fit, XS to 5XL, for whoever is still out there when the sky turns gold.
When should you order a festival outfit for 2027?
Order Magus Fawn pieces at least 30 business days before your festival opens, about six weeks, so they arrive with a week to spare. The last call is 25 business days, about five weeks. Below are both dates for all 42 festivals on our calendar with confirmed 2027 dates, from Day Zero Tulum in January to Rise in December.
How we counted: order date + 25 business days (11 production + 14 delivery) = the last business day before opening day, for the last call, and + 30 business days for the comfortable date; business days skip weekends, US federal holidays and the day after Thanksgiving.
The comfortable date leaves a working week to try everything on and paint your boots to match. Festival dates come from each official site, as listed in our 2027 music festival calendar (checked October 26, 2026). Dates without a year are in 2027.

A few notes on reading it:
- Two-weekend festivals. Coachella, EDC Las Vegas and Summerfest are counted to their first weekend. Going to a later weekend? You get seven more days for each week.
- Festivals outside the US. These dates get a parcel to a US address. If it's shipping abroad, or you're flying out days before the gates, order earlier; the festival guides in our calendar give a date with room for the trip.
- Day Zero Tulum opens right after the holidays, so our Day Zero guide picks Tuesday, November 17, 2026: home by Christmas Eve, before holiday travel begins.
- Not on the list yet? About two dozen festivals on our calendar, from Electric Forest to Hulaween, haven't posted 2027 dates. When they do, count back the same way.
Is made-to-order clothing worth the wait?

We think so, and not only because we make it. A Magus Fawn piece is made for one person: your size, your lining color, the art printed fresh into the fabric. Nothing gets produced that nobody ordered, so there's no overstock. The wait is part of what you're buying: a garment that exists because you chose it.
What those weeks buy you:
- No overstock. We don't guess how many 2XL cloaks the world needs this spring. Every piece we make already has a home.
- Every size, made the same way. Our cloaks run XS to 5XL and our cotton hoodies XS to 6XL, and a 5XL is printed, cut and sewn with the same care as an XS.
- Art printed fresh. Your design goes into the fabric for your order, with dye sublimation that keeps the colors bright wash after wash.
The Flower of Life suits this section. It's the sacred-geometry pattern of overlapping circles (Wikipedia): one shape repeating outward from a single center. The Pink Cosmic Flower of Life women's festival cloak ($250) lays that web of interlocking circles over orchid pink, with magenta lace scrolls mirrored down the back and rose and violet spirals uncurling like young fern fronds. Unisex fit, XS to 5XL: a spring-festival cloak if we ever made one.
How do you order festival clothing in time for a gift?
Count back from the day you'll hand it over, not the day of the festival. For Christmas Eve 2026, Magus Fawn's slowest timeline means ordering by Tuesday, November 17; at mid-range speed, Wednesday, November 25 still works, and at the fastest, Monday, December 7. For birthdays and festival send-offs, count back 25 business days.
| Gift deadline | Order by | Timeline it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Christmas Eve 2026 | Tuesday, November 17 | Slowest (25 business days) |
| Christmas Eve 2026 | Wednesday, November 25 | Mid-range (19 business days) |
| Christmas Eve 2026 | Monday, December 7 | Fastest (13 business days) |
Gifting an outfit to go with a festival ticket? Use the comfortable column above, so they can try it on before they pack.
Size is the other half of gift timing. All sales are final, so if you're guessing, email their measurements to art@magusfawn.com and we'll help; we typically reply within 1–2 business days. For cloaks and hoodies, our FAQ suggests sizing up, "sometimes even 2 sizes up to fit extra layers under."

For a gift that keeps someone dreaming until the festival arrives, there's Dream Weaver. A wolf-like guardian with amber eyes keeps watch from mid-chest over a frozen kingdom of pyramids, waterfalls and spires in cobalt, turquoise and violet. The Dream Weaver cotton pullover hoodie ($100) is 100% cotton at a listed 310 g/m², with a kangaroo pocket and a drawstring, in a relaxed regular fit from XS all the way to 6XL. Expect 3–5% shrinkage after the first wash, so wash it cold and air-dry it.

What if you're ordering late for a festival?

Choose the next festival instead of the closest one. Magus Fawn pieces take up to 25 business days, so a late order fits a festival later in the season beautifully. If size is the question, a one-size hooded blanket takes away the guesswork, and it's just as at home at camp, on the couch and at the afters.
The season is long. Past Coachella's March 4 last call? Ubbi Dubbi's is March 18 and Burning Flipside's is March 24, and the whole May run opens up after that. Past Glastonbury's? Summer still has Pickathon, Outside Lands and Burning Man on the table.
The fastest timeline is 13 business days, so an order placed after the last call can still arrive in time. We plan around the 25-day end because that's the window we stand behind.
And if you're ordering late for someone else, take size off the table entirely. The Amethyst Unicorn hooded blanket with ears ($150) is one size (4XL) in an oversized cut: 300 g/m² poly fleece with a cat-ear hood, a front quarter zip and an oversized front pocket for cold hands. A white unicorn rears inside an arch of violet smoke on a starry indigo field, with amethyst points growing up from the hem, the rare and lovely thing that turns up just when you'd hoped it would. For more on wearing one, see our hooded blanket guide.
Can you order made-to-order festival clothing from outside the US?
Yes. Magus Fawn ships to 38 countries outside the US. Standard International shipping is $10, with delivery in 7–14 business days, and production is the same 7–11 business days wherever the parcel is headed. Give a cross-border order extra room, and aim for the comfortable order-by date for festivals abroad. EU customers also get a 14-day cooling-off period.
If you're heading to Kiwiburn, AfrikaBurn, Boom or Glastonbury, your festival guide in our calendar has a date built for the trip. Questions about your country? Our international shipping guide lists all 38, or write to art@magusfawn.com.
Plan the parcel, then plan the night
Made to order asks for one small act of faith: you order something that doesn't exist yet. A few weeks later it's real, in your size, with a festival still out ahead of you. Circle the date, count back, and let the countdown start.

Frequently asked questions
Do weekends count toward made-to-order shipping times?
No. Magus Fawn quotes both production (7–11) and delivery (6–14) in business days, Monday to Friday, so weekends and US federal holidays don't count. An order placed on a Friday evening starts its count the following Monday, and a week with a holiday in it adds one more day to the calendar.
Is 25 business days the same as five weeks?
Almost. Twenty-five business days is exactly five weeks when no holiday falls inside them, and a little longer when one does: Memorial Day, Juneteenth or Independence Day each add a day in 2027. That's why some order-by dates in our 2027 table sit slightly more than five weeks before a festival.
How much is shipping on made-to-order festival clothing?
US standard shipping from Magus Fawn costs $8 on orders under $70 and is free on orders of $70 or more, which covers any cloak, cotton hoodie or hooded blanket. Standard International shipping is $10, with delivery in 7–14 business days. Production takes the same 7–11 business days either way, and US delivery follows in 6–14 business days.
Can I return a made-to-order piece if it doesn't fit?
All Magus Fawn sales are final, so there are no returns or exchanges for sizing or a change of mind, and we're glad to help with sizing before you order. EU customers have a 14-day cooling-off period for unused items with the tags on. If anything arrives damaged or incorrect, email photos within 48 hours of delivery.
How do I choose a size when I can't try it on first?
Email your measurements to art@magusfawn.com and we'll help you choose; Magus Fawn typically replies within 1–2 business days. For cloaks and hoodies, our FAQ suggests sizing up, "sometimes even 2 sizes up to fit extra layers under." Ask before your comfortable order-by date, so the reply never cuts into your timeline.
