Four o'clock on a Friday in downtown Miami, and the skyline is running the light show.
Glass towers stack up behind the Main Stage, catching the late sun and throwing it back across Bayfront Park in long gold bars. Biscayne Bay glitters past the palms. The air is warm, soft and a little salty, the kind of humid that turns a chiffon sleeve into a breeze you brought from home. Planning Ultra Music Festival outfits starts right here: with heat that settles in and stays.
By ten the towers have switched on their own windows, big-room drops are rolling across the field, and the temperature has barely moved. Somewhere past the crowd, the Resistance Megastructure is pulling the techno faithful toward something darker and deeper.
No cloak tonight. Ultra is a city festival that holds the 70s after dark, three days running.
We're Magus and Lylyth Fawn, Los Angeles visionary artists. Most of our guides chase the 3 a.m. cold; this one is the bayfront exception: what to wear to Ultra Miami in 2027, from the noon sun to the last set at Resistance.
What should you wear to Ultra Music Festival?
Wear light, breathable pieces that handle humid heat from noon to midnight. Magus Fawn's Ultra formula is a swimsuit, crop tee or velvet tank as the base, a chiffon kimono for sunset by the bay, cotton shorts for the long walks between stages and a bucket hat for the afternoon sun. Heavy layers stay at the hotel.
Ultra is a three-day electronic music festival in Bayfront Park, and its day runs in one direction: from bright and hot to dark and hot.
| When | Where you'll be | What to wear |
|---|---|---|
| Noon to 4 p.m. | Arriving, exploring, finding shade | A swimsuit or crop tee, shorts, a bucket hat |
| Sunset | The Main Stage under the towers | A kimono floating over your base |
| Night | Big-room and house on the Main Stage | A velvet tank that catches the lasers |
| Late night | Techno at Resistance | Dark cotton and one hypnotic print |
A city festival has an insider advantage: you sleep in a bed, so each day can be its own outfit.
How hot is Ultra Miami at night?
Warm and humid. Ultra's late-March nights in Bayfront Park usually sit around 68–75°F, so midnight feels like the afternoon with the sun switched off. Magus Fawn treats Ultra as a festival with no cold-weather angle at all: leave the cloak home and pack pieces that breathe, sit lightly on damp skin and still look sharp at midnight.
Humidity is the real weather report: sweat lingers instead of vanishing, so veterans dress in layers of air:
- Chiffon over everything. A sheer kimono adds color and lets the breeze through.
- Cotton for the long sets. Soft on hot skin, hour after hour.
- Sleeveless for velvet. Crushed velvet catches stage light; a tank keeps it comfortable.
For the festivals where the night does turn cold, our guide to staying warm at a festival at night has the full layering plan.
Swimsuits and kimonos for the bayfront afternoon

Bayfront Park is a city park on the water, not a beach, so at Ultra a one-piece swimsuit works as a bodysuit with a sense of humor. Magus Fawn pairs one with a chiffon kimono: the swimsuit carries the color through the afternoon heat, and the kimono turns it into an outfit as the sun drops behind the towers.
The Cosmic Flower of Life Pink one-piece swimsuit ($65–$69 depending on size) pours orchid and magenta fractal curls over a faint lattice of sacred geometry, the Flower of Life hiding inside the pattern the way the skyline hides in the noon haze. It's a women's one-piece with a dye-sublimated print, in XS–3XL. The design's blue twin wraps two dancers in our trance love story, One Beat Ahead.
Over it, the Mystic Eye Blue chiffon kimono ($75, S–5XL) falls long and sapphire blue, with a single watchful eye at the shoulders and aqua sacred-geometry linework spiraling down the back. An eye that never closes suits a city that never does.
Main Stage looks: a velvet tank and a bucket hat

The Main Stage is Ultra's big-room cathedral, with skyscrapers for walls. Magus Fawn's answer is a print loud enough to spot across the field, plus a hat that does double duty.
The Chakra Mandala crushed velvet tank top ($60, S–5XL) stacks rows of mandalas in the chakra rainbow, violet at the hem climbing through indigo, green and gold to warm bronze at the chest. It reads like an equalizer at full volume. Crushed velvet throws the lasers back, and open arms keep a humid field comfortable.
Add the Metallic Blue Fractal bucket hat ($50, XS–XL) for the noon-to-sunset stretch: deep royal blue marbled with ink-dark liquid swirls, like Biscayne Bay after the sun goes down. It shades your face from every side and marks your spot when the crew splits between stages.
What do guys wear to Ultra?
Guys at Ultra keep it simple and breathable: a printed tank or tee, shorts with real pockets, broken-in sneakers and sunglasses for the afternoon. Magus Fawn's men's Ultra outfit builds around all-over-print cotton shorts, then swaps the top: a velvet tank for the Main Stage, a dark cotton tee for Resistance. One pair of shorts covers both moods.

The Galactic Alien Oracle unisex cotton shorts ($65, S–5XL) swirl lavender, violet and periwinkle filigree around a tall alien figure, an oracle from somewhere far past the Miami skyline, finished with a black drawstring waist. Wear them with the Chakra Mandala tank under the towers, then with the Void Mandala tee once you head for the techno. The oracle has its own adventure in our psytrance story, The Oracle and the Last Ferry.

What do you wear to the Resistance stage at Ultra?
Dress darker and sleeker for Resistance, Ultra's techno stage. Techno culture leans black, utilitarian and minimal, usually with one hypnotic detail. Magus Fawn's Resistance look trades the rainbow for a dark printed cotton tee, a sleeveless hooded tank or a silver-toned crop tee, light enough for a humid Miami night under the Megastructure.

Resistance arrived in 2015 as Ultra's home for underground electronic music, deep house and techno, according to Ultra Music Festival's Wikipedia entry. The sound traces back to Detroit and Berlin, and so does the dress code: black on black, silver hardware, sunglasses at night, long hypnotic sets instead of drops.
Start with the Void Mandala cotton t-shirt ($60), which clusters silver-grey mandalas across black, one great medallion at the center and smaller ones orbiting it like a ring of speakers. It's the techno code with a single hypnotic detail, in 100% cotton at a listed fabric weight of 190 g/m², XS–5XL.
For a harder edge, the Crimson Fenrir cotton hooded sleeveless tank ($80, XS–5XL) sets a snarling black wolf in swirling crimson smoke on a dark field. Fenrir is the great wolf of Norse myth, bound by the gods and destined to break free, which is how a techno room feels when the kick drum finally comes back in. The hood stays down in the heat and goes up for the strobes. (Read the story behind the design: Snowed In.)
For a fitted look, the Cosmic Cross Silver cropped t-shirt ($40, XS–2XL) runs symmetrical silver and charcoal filigree from collar to hem like cathedral ironwork, the silver hardware of the techno dress code printed straight into the fabric. Wear it with black shorts and boots. The same silver print rides into a Brooklyn warehouse in Fifty-Two Minutes to Doors.

Frequently asked questions
Is Ultra Music Festival 18+?
Yes. Ultra's official help center says the festival is for those 18 years of age and older only. You need to be 21 with ID to drink alcohol, and VIP areas carry a 21+ entry requirement. The help center also lists the forms of ID accepted at the gate, so check yours against it before you fly to Miami.
Does Ultra Music Festival go until sunrise?
No. Ultra runs from afternoon into night and wraps up well before dawn. The official schedule for 2027 ends at midnight on Friday and Saturday and at 10 p.m. on Sunday. That timing makes Ultra a heat-of-the-day festival, so plan your outfit for sunshine and a warm evening rather than a chilly sunrise set.
What is Miami Music Week?
Miami Music Week is a wider program of electronic music concerts and parties held across the Miami region, usually in the days leading into Ultra, alongside the Winter Music Conference that Ultra acquired in 2018. If you're staying for club nights as well as the festival, pack an extra outfit or two for the city.
Do you need a poncho for Ultra?
Pack one. Miami's late-March weather is mostly warm, but storms do roll in: on Day 1 of Ultra 2024, rain, lightning and strong winds suspended performances and then ended the night early, the first time severe weather shut the whole festival down. A packable poncho folds small and keeps your outfit dry.
