At Snowboxx, the dress code starts at your feet. Ski boots stay outside every festival venue, so each evening in Avoriaz begins with the same ritual: click out of the bindings, swap the plastic shells for real shoes, and decide what goes on top for a night in the snow.
The village helps set the mood. There are no cars at all, only snow streets, horse-drawn sleighs and snowcats, and an open-air main stage beside the slopes that plays its last note at eleven.
Snowboxx 2027 runs from Saturday, March 13 through Saturday, March 20 in Avoriaz, high in the French Alps, according to the official Snowboxx FAQ. Below: the outfit for each corner of the week, the March numbers from the nearest Météo-France station, and the house rules that shape what you pack.
The Snowboxx wardrobe, from piste to open-air arena
Packing Magus Fawn pieces for Snowboxx comes down to a handover at dusk. Daylight belongs to your ski jacket and salopettes, from first lift through the midday après. Night belongs to the arena and the clubs: a hooded cloak, faux-fur-lined, for the open-air main stage, one cotton or brushed-fleece layer beneath it for the warm rooms after eleven, and boots with real grip for streets made of packed snow.
Avoriaz's own tourist office puts the resort at 1,800 meters, in a fully pedestrian village whose buildings follow the shape of the mountain. Still weighing Avoriaz against Alpe d'Huez or Mayrhofen? Our guide to the 2027 ski and snow festivals sets the four Alpine weeks side by side.
Le Pleney's March record: Météo-France normals above Morzine
Météo-France has no climate station in Avoriaz itself. The closest one with published normals is Le Pleney, on the Morzine side of the same ski area, at 1,515 meters. Avoriaz sits roughly 300 meters higher, so read the table as the mild end of the range and dress a notch warmer than it suggests.
| March at Le Pleney, Morzine (1,515 m) | Normal |
|---|---|
| Mean daily high (mid-afternoon) | 4.9°C (41°F) |
| Mean daily low (usually just before dawn) | −1.8°C (29°F) |
| Frosty nights, 0°C (32°F) or lower | 20.8 |
| Hard-frost nights, −5°C (23°F) or lower | 7.5 |
| Ice days, when the high stays at 0°C or lower | 5.8 |
| Wet or snowy days (1 mm or more) | 11.6 |
| Total rain and snow, as water | 137.7 mm |

Two out of three March nights dip to freezing or below, and roughly one in four reaches −5°C. The records stretch further still: 16.3°C (61°F) on March 30, 2021 at the top end, and −15.6°C (4°F) on March 1, 2005 at the bottom. Mid-March in Avoriaz can hand you a sunny terrace at lunch and a crisp, starry walk home at 11 p.m., often on the same day.
Snowboxx 2027 tickets: how the sign-up list works, and who can come
The 2027 edition takes over Avoriaz from Saturday, March 13 to Saturday, March 20. All festival events are strictly 18+, though families can come for the skiing. The nearest airport is Geneva, and Snowboxx's standard coach transfers run on the two Saturdays, about three hours each way.
As of October 30, 2026, 2027 booking is a sign-up list. Both package types on the Snowboxx home page carry "Sign up for 2027" buttons, tickets go out in drops announced to that list, and the ticket-and-lift-pass bundles are released later in the year. The FAQ says the lineup arrives in two waves between October and November; no names were posted when we checked.
Snowboxx is run from London by Mainstage Festivals Ltd. Flying in? Pack for one bag, a coach seat and a snow street at the other end, where a snowcat or a horse and cart can carry luggage from the arrivals center.
Can you wear ski boots inside Snowboxx venues?
No. Snowboxx doesn't allow ski boots or other ski equipment inside any of its festival venues, including the open-air main arena on headline nights, and security can turn away footwear it finds unsuitable. Plan a pair of warm, grippy everyday boots for the evenings, and leave the shells at your apartment.
The 2026 essential info page lists more conditions of entry, and several of them decide what stays in your suitcase. Among the prohibited items:
- glass, drones, tasers and CS gas;
- food items and private sound systems;
- flares, bangers, fireworks, sparklers, Chinese lanterns and naked flames;
- animals other than approved assistance dogs, and unauthorised professional photography equipment.
One rule is pure Alpine: throwing snowballs can get you removed from the event, temporarily or for good. Save the competitive streak for bingo night.
Which nights does the Snowboxx main stage play?
The Snowboxx main stage hosts headliners on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings, in a big open-air arena right beside the slopes, and the music there finishes at 11 p.m. On a March night above Morzine that usually means dancing around freezing, so the outer layer you wear there matters more than anything else in the bag.
When the arena closes, the night moves indoors: The Boxx picks up with lasers and late sets, The Stag runs into the early hours, and six clubs light the neon terraces downtown. So the ideal main-stage piece is one you can close all the way and then throw open: a two-way zip, done up to the chin in the arena and parted wide the moment you step into a warm room.
The Mystic Eye and the Angel Catcher: cloaks for an outdoor arena

The starry one. The Silver Mystic Eye men's festival cloak ($250) puts the Avoriaz night on your shoulders. A silver Flower of Life lattice, an overlapping-circles pattern first found on an Assyrian palace threshold more than 2,500 years ago, frosts the black body from hood to hem. White curves sweep through it, a rainbow nebula glows across the chest, a deep teal tint runs down the sleeves, and round medallions sit on each arm. The back is where the name comes from: high on a silver arch, an eye with a violet center looks out like an Eye of Providence for the mountain, and below it three Flower of Life orbs glow blue, stepping down toward the hem from largest to smallest. In a dark arena, that trail of blue is what your friends will follow.

The snow-light one. The Angel Catcher Light Blue festival cloak ($250) is the color of snow in blue shadow at four in the afternoon. Periwinkle, lavender and cobalt facets fill it like cut glass, ruled by fine mint-green and pale-gold lines that burst outward from gold-centered points, and the shoulders turn deep, mottled blue under white sacred-geometry linework. Between the shoulder blades sits a teal-rimmed hexagon around a violet Flower of Life, the fixed point the whole web radiates from, the way a pole star anchors a star chart.
Whichever print you choose, the build doesn't change. Outside is micro-mink polyester, listed at 200 g/m², over one plush faux-fur lining in microfiber fleece, in black or white as you like. Two zipper pulls share one front track, and thick drawstrings gather the hood close. Of the four pockets, the two deep side pockets warm your hands between sets, and the two inside stay out of sight, one of them zipped. The cut is unisex in every size, XS through 5XL.
The Boxx, The Stag and downtown: layers for the late rooms
Under a Magus Fawn cloak, whatever you wear becomes the whole outfit the moment the cloak comes off at a club door, so make it one piece of art you'd happily dance in at 1 a.m.: warm enough for the stroll from venue to venue, soft enough for a packed room.

The hoodie. The Cosmic Knight cotton pullover hoodie ($100, XS–6XL) is engraved armor for a night out: teal filigree climbs a midnight-black front like the plates of a breastplate, compass-star rosettes turn on the chest and sleeves, and tiny gold stars scatter across the whole thing. Underneath the art it's pure cotton, a sturdy 310 grams per square meter, carrying a dye-sublimated print, a method that for years worked only on polyester. It hangs loose and easy, with cords at the hood and a pouch pocket for your hands. Its first trip through the machine draws it in by 3–5%, so wash it cold and dry it on a rack from then on.

The joggers. The Feathery Fractal joggers ($100; $105 in 2XL, $108 in 3XL) unfurl teal and violet plumage down both legs, with a strand of cobalt, like peacock feathers seen through ice. Run a hand down the leg and the face passes for cotton, though it's recycled polyester (96%) blended with elastane (4%); the reverse is brushed vegan fleece, and the listed weight is 308 g/m². Ankle cuffs stop snow riding up into your socks, the waist is elastic with a drawstring, and the side pockets keep a lift pass handy. The cut is slim through XS–3XL, so thermal leggings underneath mean going up a size, or two.
Après on the terrace: a cap for La Folie Douce
From midday every day, Snowboxx runs its après at La Folie Douce, and plenty of guests glide in still on their skis. Nobody changes out of ski kit for this one; the only swap worth making is helmet for cap once your skis are in the rack.

The Ophanim Gray snapback ($40, one size) is starlight on slate: white circles interlock across a grey crown flecked with pinpoint stars, and on the front a feathered, winged figure spreads around a moon-white sphere. In Ezekiel's vision the ophanim are wheels whose rims are covered in eyes; later, the Book of Enoch sets them beside the cherubim and seraphim as beings who never sleep and guard the throne of God, which sounds about right for festival week. The crown weighs in at 150 g/m² of polyester, and a plastic snap at the back sets the size. George, reviewing a snapback in May 2023, wore it "for 4 days at an outdoor music festival, no clouds in the sky."
Fancy dress day, from Space Cowboy (2026) to the 2027 theme
Snowboxx puts fancy dress on its list of off-piste events, alongside inflatable races and bingo nights, and its bingo promises themed days with "dress codes." In 2026, fancy dress day fell on Monday, March 16, and the theme was Space Cowboy. The 2027 theme hadn't been posted by October 30, 2026.

Whatever the theme, a cosmic base layer earns its suitcase space. The Cosmic Space Cats men's festival leggings ($65, XS–3XL) turn the 2026 theme sideways: orange tabbies and blue cats ride through violet and cobalt nebulae, with small orange planets scattered down to the ankles. Call it a space cowboy's cattle drive, if the cattle were cats. The microfiber blends 90% polyester with 10% spandex and is cut skinny, so the leggings vanish under a pair of joggers for the walk over and take center stage once the costume goes on.
Five o'clock check-in: the apartment layer
In 2026, Snowboxx apartments opened for check-in at 5 p.m., and the apartment is where the week slows down: wet gloves draped over a chair, a group debate about who's cooking, a lie-down before the headliner, a late breakfast while the early risers ride the first lifts.
Those hours belong to our hooded blanket, $150 in whichever design you love. It's a blanket you pull on over your head: 300 g/m² of polyester fleece, cat ears topping the hood, a zip that runs a quarter of the way down from the neck, and one outsized front pocket. There's one size only, a roomy 4XL, which settles who gets to borrow it: everyone.
If you'd like fiction for the apartment, The Ice Window is our fire-and-ice love story set in a Swedish Lapland ice hotel.
January 28 and February 4: made-to-order math for Avoriaz
For Magus Fawn orders headed to Snowboxx, Thursday, January 28, 2027 leaves slack in the schedule. Nothing is cut or printed until you order: your pieces are in production for 7–11 business days, and Standard International delivery to the UK or France ($10; both are among the 38 countries we ship to beyond the US) adds another 7–14. Send the parcel home, and it rides to Avoriaz in your suitcase.
Our math starts on Friday, March 12, the day before the opening Saturday, and walks backward through weekdays alone, stepping over Presidents' Day on February 15. Thirty business days lands on January 28. Twenty-five lands on Thursday, February 4, the last call: order then and the parcel still makes it even if production and delivery both run their full length, with no day left over. Customs queues keep their own hours, which is why we'd circle the January date. Our made-to-order timeline runs this math for dozens of 2027 festivals, and our Snowbombing guide covers the April week in Austria.
- Fit over layers. Sales are final, so settle the size first. For outerwear like the cloak, the FAQ points you a size up, and two sizes up when a thick layer goes underneath. Send your measurements and the layers you'll wear under the cloak to art@magusfawn.com; Lylyth answers sizing questions, usually inside two business days.
- Ordering from France? In the EU, a 14-day cooling-off window applies, provided the piece comes back unused with its tags on.
- If anything arrives wrong, email photos within 48 hours. Flormina, whose July 2026 order arrived missing a feature, wrote that we "immediately responded with a proposal to make it right."
Eleven o'clock in a town without cars
At 11 p.m. the main stage goes quiet, and the crowd spills out into a village with no engines in it. What you hear is boots on packed snow, laughter echoing between the buildings, and the creak of a hood being pulled up tight. Somewhere ahead, The Boxx has its doors open. Zip the cloak, follow the footprints, and let the night carry on.

Frequently asked questions
How do you pay for things at Snowboxx?
With your wristband. Snowboxx is fully cashless: the festival wristband carries a chip you top up online before you travel or at top-up points around the site, and it's the only payment accepted at Snowboxx-run venues. Some other venues take cards, and cash still works in shops and restaurants around the wider resort.
When does Snowboxx announce its 2027 lineup?
Snowboxx's FAQ says its lineup is announced in two tiers between October and November, with set times released closer to the event. As of October 30, 2026, no 2027 artists were posted on the official site. Joining the 2027 sign-up list on the home page is the way to hear first.
Where do you pick up a Snowboxx wristband?
In person in Avoriaz. Wristbands are never posted; each guest collects their own with photo ID and their booking details. In 2026 the collection point sat in the middle of the resort beside the help desk, and late arrivals could collect at the box office outside the main arena on headline nights.
Does the Prodains lift run late during Snowboxx?
Yes. The Snowboxx FAQ says the Prodains cable car, which links Avoriaz with the valley road to Morzine, runs until 00:30 each night of the festival; the 2026 timetable closed it at midnight on the first Saturday and the final Friday. Staying in Morzine? Plan around that last car, since The Boxx and The Stag play on later.
