At seven o'clock the gates open and the Las Vegas Motor Speedway is still breathing out the afternoon. Heat rises off the asphalt in slow waves. The Ferris wheel turns gold against a sky just starting to blush tangerine, flags snap above the crowd pouring toward kineticFIELD, and somewhere behind you the first kick drum of the night lands in your chest like a second heartbeat.
Nine hours later, it's a different planet. Around 4 a.m. a soft wind slides in off the desert, cool enough to raise goosebumps on sun-warm arms, and the trance crowd at quantumVALLEY lifts their hands for a sunrise they can already feel coming.
That's the secret of EDC outfits: two climates, one night. We're Magus and Lylyth Fawn, Los Angeles visionary artists who live in the festival world, and this is our dusk-to-dawn plan for EDC Las Vegas 2027, for guys and women, stage by stage.
The EDC night in four acts
EDC Las Vegas 2027 runs across two weekends at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway: EDC Dusk on May 14–16 and EDC Dawn on May 21–23. Doors open at 5 p.m. on Fridays, when the opening ceremony begins at cosmicMEADOW, and at 7 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays; the grounds stay open until 5:30 a.m., on nights that usually sit around 70–80°F.
| Time | What the desert does | What to wear |
|---|---|---|
| 7–9 p.m. | Warm air, asphalt still radiating | Breathable base: mesh, cotton, a bodysuit or shorts |
| 9 p.m.–2 a.m. | Peak crowd, peak body heat | Same base, plus kandi, LED and a hydration pack |
| 2–4 a.m. | Desert wind arrives | A crushed velvet tee or polo goes on |
| 4–5:30 a.m. | First light behind the mountains | Velvet catching the sunrise, arms up |
What should women wear to EDC?
Women at EDC Las Vegas dress for a warm, glittering night: sheer mesh, bodysuits, tube tops and bold prints, finished with kandi, LED gloves or a flag cape. Magus Fawn's EDC outfit for women starts with a breathable base that moves, then adds a soft crushed velvet tee to throw on when the 4 a.m. desert wind arrives.

Start with a dress that lets the night air through. The Amethyst Unicorn sheer mesh bodycon dress ($55, 2XS–5XL) sets a white-violet unicorn on spires of amethyst crystal under a swirling purple nebula, in 110 g/m² sheer mesh (95% poly, 5% spandex). Layer it over a bodysuit and the stage lights turn it into stained glass.
For a one-and-done base, the Golden Phoenix V-neck bodysuit ($55) spreads the phoenix's gold, teal and violet wings up a black field from a glowing emblem at the center, in 180 g/m² microfiber with 5% spandex. A bird that rises from the fire is a fair mascot for a night that opens near 80 degrees.
What are the best EDC outfits for guys?
The best EDC outfits for guys keep the heat moving: a printed cotton tee or hooded tank, cargo shorts with real pockets, broken-in sneakers and a soaked bandana. Magus Fawn's mens rave outfit for EDC pairs a breathable cotton tee with all-over-print cargo shorts, then saves a crushed velvet polo for the cool hour before sunrise.

The tee is the foundation. The White Fractal Bubble cotton t-shirt ($60) tiles pale silver-grey fractal mandalas across a white field, like frost lace on a hot night, in 100% cotton at 190 g/m². Its brown twin stars in our EDC story, Small Sips, where four strangers walk an overheated nurse to the medical tent and find her again at sunrise.
Then the shorts. The Celestial Temple men's cargo shorts ($65, S–5XL) carry midnight indigo and violet temple geometry with teal and green orbs glowing through it, in 190 g/m² poly with cargo pockets for earplugs, lip balm and the kandi you'll trade by midnight.
Simple rave outfits for guys win at EDC: one great print, one practical layer. Our guide to what guys actually wear to raves goes deeper on formulas by genre and temperature.
EDC outfit ideas by stage: trance, bass and hard dance
quantumVALLEY (trance). Euphoric, celestial and flag-proud: sequins, iridescent fabric, pastels, electric blue, kandi cuffs and a country flag tied on as a cape. The Dreamweaver tube top ($40, 2XS–3XL) weaves cobalt, sky blue and violet filigree into one ornate symmetrical tapestry, in stretchy 88% poly, 12% spandex. It's the woven-dream print from our beach trance story, The Sand Loom.
bassPOD (bass). Bold and built for headbanging: the hoodie uniform, minus the sleeves. The Liquid Fire cotton sleeveless hooded tank ($80) pours molten marbling of orange, red, gold, violet and teal across 100% cotton, 310 g/m², with a hood for the dusk walk-in and bare arms for the drop.
wasteLAND (hard dance). EDC's hard dance stage moves at full throttle, so dress light and fitted. The Alien Cyber Punk Mech one-shoulder cropped top ($40, XS–2XL) puts a cyan, magenta and violet alien-mech mandala on dark navy, a central alien emblem staring down the strobes, in skinny-fit 80% poly, 20% spandex.
One costume rule from the official Hours & Info page: nothing that resembles police, fire, security, medical or staff uniforms, including high-visibility vests. Light-up costumes are welcome.
How do you stay cool at EDC?
Staying cool at EDC Las Vegas comes down to water, rest and fabric. Insomniac runs free hydration stations across the Speedway, marked with water droplets on the festival map, so arrive with an empty reusable bottle or hydration pack. Wear lightweight, breathable clothes, eat a real meal before gates, and take shade breaks between sets.
- Refill early and often. The CDC's heat guidance says to carry a water bottle and keep refilling it, and to go easy on sugary, caffeinated and alcoholic drinks. Light yellow or clear urine usually means you're drinking enough.
- Bring the right gear in. EDC allows hydration packs with no more than two main compartments and one smaller pocket, reusable water bottles, and personal misting fans with a bottle up to 1.5 liters, all empty at entry.
- Know the medical setup. EDC has free medical teams and first aid tents, plus Ground Control staff in purple shirts, and Insomniac is clear you won't get in trouble for seeking medical help.
Know the signs. The National Weather Service's heat illness page, drawn from the CDC's list, gives the signs of heat exhaustion: heavy sweating; weakness or tiredness; cool, pale, clammy skin; a fast, weak pulse; muscle cramps; dizziness, nausea or vomiting; headache; fainting. If a friend shows these, move them somewhere cooler, loosen their clothing, apply cool wet cloths and offer sips of water; get medical help if they vomit, worsen or don't improve within an hour. Heatstroke looks different: confusion, slurred speech, a throbbing headache, hot red skin (dry or damp), a rapid, strong pulse, and sometimes fainting. That's a medical emergency: get EDC medical or call 911 right away, cool them with wet cloths while you wait, and give no fluids.
Do you need a jacket at EDC?
No jacket needed at EDC Las Vegas, but one light layer earns its place. Nights at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway usually sit around 70–80°F, and desert wind can feel cool around 4 a.m. A crushed velvet tee or polo rolled into your hydration pack covers that hour, then shines at sunrise.

Crushed velvet is the EDC sunrise fabric: soft on wind-cooled skin, and it throws light back at the lasers. For anyone, the Galactic Alien Oracle crushed velvet t-shirt ($60 in crushed velvet) swirls lavender, violet and blue alien forms into one symmetrical vision, in 240 g/m² velvet.
For guys who want a collar at dawn, the Solar Eclipse crushed velvet polo shirt ($65, S–5XL) sets a gold-rimmed eclipse inside rainbow rings with a white-hot center on a starry black field, in 240 g/m² crushed velvet. Sun and moon meeting as night turns to day is EDC in one image (read the story behind the design: Two Minutes of Totality).
Save the faux-fur-lined cloak for colder festivals; EDC's warm desert air doesn't ask for one. For the nights that do, our guide to staying warm at a festival at night has the full layering plan.

Frequently asked questions
When is EDC Las Vegas 2027?
EDC Las Vegas 2027 runs over two weekends at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway: EDC Dusk on May 14–16 and EDC Dawn on May 21–23. Gates open at 7 p.m., or 5 p.m. on Fridays, and the grounds stay open until 5:30 a.m. Nights usually sit around 70–80°F, with a cooler desert wind near 4 a.m.
What's the difference between EDC Dusk and EDC Dawn?
EDC Dusk and EDC Dawn are the two weekends of EDC Las Vegas 2027, a week apart at the same Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Insomniac says the production and experience will match across both, and the plan is the same lineup. Dusk runs May 14–16 and Dawn runs May 21–23, so pick the weekend that fits your calendar.
What shoes should you wear to EDC?
Wear comfortable, broken-in sneakers to EDC. The official EDC Health & Wellness guide recommends sneakers for dancing and notes that sandals and flip-flops can make for sore feet. You'll cover a lot of ground between stages across the Speedway, on your feet from 7 p.m. until sunrise, so cushioning beats novelty every time.
Can you bring a hydration pack to EDC?
Yes. EDC Las Vegas allows hydration packs, clear or not, with no more than two main compartments and one smaller compartment, and they must be empty at entry. Once inside, refill for free at the hydration stations marked with water droplets on the festival map. Reusable water bottles and small misting fans are allowed empty too.
