Gottwood Outfits 2027: What to Wear to Anglesey's Barn, Forest and Lake Weekend

|Magus Fawn

Bunting zigzags between the trees, and a hand-painted sign points three ways at once: Forest, Lawn, Lake. Further down the path, the woods open onto a still lake with a stage on its far shore, and the whole scene floats upside down in the water.

Behind old stone walls, a garden full of dancers cheers the next record. A breeze off the Irish Sea, salt and cut grass, lifts the hem of a spinning chiffon kimono.

So what to wear to Gottwood? Dress for an island: bright layers for the Lawn, and something warm and hooded for the woods after dark.

Gottwood 2027 runs June 10–13 on the Carreglwyd Estate in northwest Anglesey, Wales, according to the official festival site. We're Magus and Lylyth Fawn, Los Angeles visionary artists and festival lifers, and here's how we'd dress for the woods, the water and the walk back to the tent.

What should you wear to Gottwood?

Plan two outfits that travel together. Wear bright, breathable pieces for sunny afternoons on the Lawn and in the Walled Garden, then add fleece joggers and a hooded faux-fur-lined cloak once the sea wind reaches the woods. Gottwood nights on Anglesey usually settle around 9–11°C (48–52°F), so carry the warm layer from midday.

Gottwood moment Where you'll be Pieces
Afternoon The Lawn and the Walled Garden Cotton tee or bodysuit, a snapback
Golden hour The Lighthouse, looking across the lake A chiffon kimono, belted over the bodysuit
After dark The Forest, Trigon and the Curve Fleece joggers and a hooded cloak
Small hours The Barn and Ricky's Disco Cloak unzipped, hood down, still dancing
Camp morning Your tent A hooded blanket and breakfast from a food trader

The festival is cheerful about its weather. Its location page credits Anglesey's micro-climate and says "we enjoy sunshine more often than not." Pack sunglasses with confidence, and keep a light shell rolled in your bag as island insurance.

Day looks for the Lawn and the Walled Garden

Gottwood leans house and techno. House crowds go colorful and sun-washed, all kimonos and pattern-mixing; techno fans keep it dark with one statement piece. Wear a little of both, because you'll hear both before dinner.

Man at a golden-hour festival main stage in the Void Mandala cotton t-shirt, large silver-grey mandala discs on black, worn with black cargo trousers: a house and techno festival tee

The tee. The Void Mandala cotton t-shirt ($60, XS–5XL) scatters large silver-grey mandalas across black, like moons rising over a dark field. It's 100% cotton at 190 g/m², dye-sublimated so the print won't fade or crack.

Woman on a festival field in the Mystical Egypt V-neck bodysuit, a column of glowing chakra medallions in violet, blue, green and gold over black with fine gold arcs: a festival bodysuit for sunny afternoons

The bodysuit. The Mystical Egypt V-neck bodysuit ($55, XS–2XL) stacks a column of glowing chakra medallions down the front, violet at the top through blue, green and gold to red, each holding a small geometric star, over black laced with fine gold arcs. It's 95% poly / 5% spandex microfiber at 180 g/m², with an open back, a V-neck front and a snap closure.

Woman at a festival field in the Psy Swirl Blue chiffon kimono, lime and emerald shoulders flowing into turquoise and aqua with blue spirals, belted over a teal bodysuit: a sunset kimono for a lakeside stage

The kimono. The Psy Swirl Blue chiffon kimono ($75, S–5XL) pours lime and emerald from the shoulders into turquoise and aqua at the hem, curled with blue spirals, the colors of shallow water over pale sand. It's 80 g/m² chiffon with cuffed sleeves and a waist belt: the golden-hour layer for the Lighthouse (another story behind it: The Temple Dog).

Woman at a festival main stage in the Blue Fractal snapback, indigo and royal-blue marbled swirls over a black dot-patterned brim: a festival snapback for sunny days

The cap. The Blue Fractal snapback ($40) swirls indigo and royal blue like deep water stirred with ink, over a black dot-patterned brim. It's 100% poly at 150 g/m², one size fits most, with an adjustable snapback closure. Shade for the Lawn, and a landmark for your friends.

From the Forest to the Barn: dressing stage to stage

Gottwood's stages each have their own character, and the joy of the weekend is drifting between them. The Forest greets you first among the trees. The Walled Garden hides behind its walls. The Lighthouse looks out across the lake, Trigon and the Curve host the big names, and Ricky's Disco keeps going until sunrise. The Barn is a tiny on-site club.

  • Forest, Trigon and the Curve after dark: joggers on, cloak zipped for the walk between stages.
  • The Barn: cloak open, hood down. A small room full of dancers warms up fast, and four pockets keep your things with you.

The homepage says 2027 will "build on our 24-hour licence," so plan for long nights. In fiction, our English woods techno love story Write One True Thing hides its stages in the trees too, and One Barn, One Generator packs a rave into a barn. For the darker dress code, see what to wear to a techno party.

How cold does Gottwood get at night?

Cool, and breezier than the woods suggest. Gottwood nights on the Carreglwyd Estate usually settle around 9–11°C (48–52°F), and the wind off the Irish Sea makes that feel brisker on open ground by the lake. Bring fleece joggers and a hooded, lined layer, and keep them with you for the late sets.

Choose a layer you can open and close as you walk: zipped by the water, unzipped in the Barn. For sea-wind nights anywhere, our guide to how to stay warm at a festival at night is the companion read.

Man on a festival boardwalk in the Madriax Grey joggers, silver and charcoal clusters of beaded circles with a honeycomb band, worn with a black tank and boots: fleece rave joggers for a cool night

The joggers. The Madriax Grey joggers ($100; $105 in 2XL, $108 in 3XL) trace silver and charcoal clusters of beaded circles down each leg, crossed by a honeycomb band at the knees, with a small white star medallion at the hip: moonlight on old stone. They're 308 g/m² with brushed vegan fleece inside, cuffed legs and side pockets. The fit is slim, so order one or two sizes up for room over shorts.

The cloak. Whatever the print, a Magus Fawn festival cloak keeps the same build: a micro-mink outer, an ultra-soft fluffy microfiber fleece lining in black or white faux fur (listed fabric weight 200 g/m²), a double front zipper, heavy drawstrings and four pockets, two deep side pockets plus two interior stash pockets, one of them zippered. Unisex fit, XS–5XL. George, reviewing a Madriax cloak in May 2023: "So comfortable you almost forgot how cool it looks!"

For him, the Black Cosmic Cross men's festival cloak ($250) mirrors black, charcoal and silver filigree from hood to hem, ornate as engraved metal, around one small glowing orb at the center of the back.

Woman at a festival main stage in the Galactic Alien Oracle women's festival cloak, hood up, violet, periwinkle and cobalt swirls with orbs, worn open over a bodysuit: a hooded festival cloak for a breezy night

For her, the Galactic Alien Oracle women's cloak ($250) swirls violet, periwinkle and cobalt from hood to hem, with drifting orbs and curling tendrils, as if the lake had learned to dream (its story: Field Log: Night Three).

Camp mornings, stove-free

Gottwood asks campers to leave personal fires, stoves and cooking devices at home, per its info page. Breakfast comes from the food traders and warmth from what you're wearing.

The blanket. The Cyber Punk Mech hooded blanket ($150) stacks white geometric stars inside circles down the back, over violet, teal and cobalt machinery glowing amber at the shoulders, topped with a cat-ear hood. It's an oversized pullover in 300 g/m² fleece with a front quarter zip and an oversized front pocket, one size (4XL).
