Bluebonnets crowd right up to the fence line, a blue so deep it looks painted on.
Past the gate, a bassline rolls across the pasture, and a woman in a marbled cloak tests the wind with one raised hand. Afternoon heat still sits on the grass. Out to the north, a bank of clouds is deciding whether to join the party.
Music festivals in Texas run on big skies, bigger sound and weather with a flair for drama: a spring burn on a river, two stadium-ground bass weekends, a Fair Park countdown under a roof, and a crowd that dances through all of it in cowboy boots and velvet.
Magus and Lylyth Fawn here, two Los Angeles visionary artists, and we plan our year around nights like these. Here are the Texas festivals to circle for late 2026 and 2027, with official dates, typical night temperatures and what to wear to each.
What music festivals are coming to Texas in 2027?
Texas's 2027 calendar so far: Ubbi Dubbi on April 23–24 and Burning Flipside, the state's regional burn, on April 29–May 3. Breakaway's Dallas and Houston stops are TBA for 2027, while this season still holds Breakaway Houston on November 13–14 and Lights All Night in Dallas on December 30–31.
Every date below comes from the event's own site, checked in October 2026; the after-dark numbers are typical for the place and month, not forecasts.

Five Texas weekends, from the Bayou City to the San Gabriel River
1. Breakaway Houston: bass and house in the Bayou City
Breakaway brings its touring festival to the Shell Energy Stadium Festival Grounds on November 13–14, 2026, from 3 to 11 p.m. each day, with Dom Dolla, Cloonee, GRiZ and Tape B on the 2026 season page. It's 18+, cashless for food and drink, and rain or shine.
Houston's November normals run from the low 70s°F in the afternoon to the low 50s°F by night, according to the NOAA climate table for Intercontinental Airport. That's a two-layer evening.

Outfit note: pack your own favorites for this one, since a made-to-order piece needs about three weeks. For the next Breakaway, the Forest Wizard Red women's yoga leggings ($70) are a smart base: silver-green leaves and pink blossoms climb a wine-black, honeycomb-textured leg, a botanical garden after dark. They're 225 g/m² microfiber with four-way stretch and a raised waistband, in XS–XL. Bags up to 14" x 6" x 14" are welcome and needn't be clear, and ponchos and earplugs are on the permitted list, so a folded hoodie and a poncho ride along easily. Same-day re-entry isn't offered, so bring the evening layer in with you.
2. Lights All Night: a Fair Park countdown under one roof
Lights All Night celebrates 16 years at Fair Park in Dallas on December 30–31, 2026. Its festival guide says "all main stages" sit "fully indoors" in a climate-controlled space, with house, techno, trance and bass from 6 p.m. to 3 a.m. Fans must be 18 or older.
Outfit note: dress for the dance floor and plan for the walk to the car. The full plan is in the Lights All Night section below, and Denver counts down on the same two nights at Decadence, which our Colorado festival guide covers.
3. Breakaway Dallas: a spring weekend at Fair Park
The 2026 Dallas stop opened Breakaway's national tour at Fair Park on April 10–11, with Disclosure, Eli Brown, FISHER and Sofi Tukker. The 2027 season page lists four Phase One cities so far, and Texas isn't among them yet, so Dallas 2027 dates are TBA.
Dallas April normals run from the upper 70s°F by day to the upper 50s°F at night, per the NOAA table for Love Field.

Outfit note: pockets for the stadium grounds. The Watchtowers men's cargo shorts ($65 in S–3XL, $70 in 4XL–5XL) etch silver and charcoal linework like an old engraving, cool-toned for a hot afternoon (their story: The North Tower Is Listening). They're a denim-like 190 g/m² poly with a button-closure waistband and multiple cargo pockets, in a regular fit. Add a light hoodie for the walk out.
4. Ubbi Dubbi: Disco Presents' spring EDM weekend
Ubbi Dubbi returns to Panther Island Pavilion in Fort Worth on April 23–24, 2027, the festival's official site announces. The same grounds hosted its seventh year in 2026, when an underwater "Into the Abyss" theme took over, EDM Tunes reported.

Outfit note: sun cover first, because late-April afternoons in North Texas run warm. The Alien Mycelium Green snapback ($40) traces a small alien head above a cluster of mushroom forms in neon lime on black. Mycelium is the underground web that connects a forest, a fitting crown for a crowd that finds each other by the rail.
5. Burning Flipside: a riverside burn north of Austin
Burning Flipside gathers on private land north of the San Gabriel River, about an hour from Austin, on April 29–May 3, 2027, with the theme "Flipside: The Musical." It's the first Burning Man Regional Event, per our regional burn guide, and nights run 55–65°F with spring storms.

Outfit note: costume by day, a hooded layer for the Effigy. The Liquid Fire women's festival cloak ($250) swirls orange, gold, violet and cobalt like a fire's reflection on moving water, made for a spring night by a burning sculpture (watched from a respectful distance). It has a micro-mink outer, a fluffy faux-fur fleece lining in black or white, a double front zipper and four pockets, unisex XS–5XL (its story: Wait for the Wind). Our Burning Flipside outfits guide dresses the full musical, and The Fourth Feather tells a Texas burn story with a spring storm at its heart.
What are the biggest EDM festivals in Texas?
On this list, Breakaway, Ubbi Dubbi and Lights All Night carry Texas's big electronic weekends. Breakaway's touring festival opened its 2026 season at Fair Park in Dallas and closes it in Houston. Ubbi Dubbi is Disco Presents' late-April weekend in Fort Worth, and Lights All Night closes the year at Fair Park.
Breakaway mixes house and bass, with headliners like Dom Dolla, FISHER and GRiZ, and Lights All Night spans house, techno, trance and bass across its indoor stages. For bass-heavy weekends, our dubstep rave outfits guide covers rail-ready looks, and First Contact sets a shuffle battle at a Texas bass festival, with a blue norther racing in at sunset.
Austin's scene runs its own way too: our group-chat story Front Left, Year Ten follows six friends through a one-day bass and house festival in an Austin park.
How is Burning Flipside different from a ticketed EDM festival?
Burning Flipside is a participatory regional burn, not a show with an audience. Its event page says "There are no spectators," and "No cash transactions are permitted at Flipside," so you bring everything you'll need, from food to costumes. Theme camps, art and an Effigy fill the land, while Breakaway and Lights All Night sell food and drink on site.
The atlas notes it's the only official Burning Man regional in Texas, and it follows the Ten Principles, from gifting to Leave No Trace. If the culture is new to you, read what a transformational festival is, the wider family that burns belong to.
What do you wear to Lights All Night in Dallas?
Wear something light enough for warm, climate-controlled halls and bring one compact warm layer for the late walk to your car. Fair Park's main stages are fully indoors, but Dallas December nights fall to about 40°F, and Lights All Night runs until 3 a.m. with no re-entry, so whatever you arrive in stays with you.
The festival's own advice is "comfy dancin' shoes" and party attire. Bags can be up to 12" x 12" with a single compartment, and lockers measure about 8" x 11" x 17", room for a folded hoodie.

The dance-floor piece. The Purple Marble crushed velvet tank top ($60) swirls violet, lavender and white like polished stone, and crushed velvet catches every laser in the hall. It's 95/5 crushed velvet at 240 g/m², sleeveless with a crew neck, regular fit, S–5XL. Our indoor rave outfits guide covers queue-to-floor layering in detail.
Order-by for the countdown. Every Magus Fawn piece is made to order: 7–11 business days of production, then 6–14 business days of delivery. To have a piece in hand on Tuesday, December 29, our slowest-case count lands on Thursday, November 19, 2026. For Ubbi Dubbi, that count lands on Thursday, March 18, 2027, and for Flipside on Monday, March 22. All sales are final, and US shipping is free at $70+.
Packing for Texas weather swings
Texas swings fast. The Handbook of Texas describes the blue norther as "a rapidly moving autumnal cold front that causes temperatures to drop quickly," and spring brings its own storms. Pack for the cooler number, then peel off.
| Month and event | Sunny hours | Night | Toss in |
|---|---|---|---|
| April (Breakaway Dallas, Ubbi Dubbi, Flipside) | Shorts, a tank or leggings, a hat | Upper 50s–60s°F | A hoodie or cloak, a rain shell |
| November (Breakaway Houston) | Tee and leggings | Low 50s°F | A packable hoodie, a poncho |
| New Year's (Lights All Night) | Velvet for the hall | About 40°F outside | A layer that fits a locker |
Room for layers. Our FAQ suggests sizing up for outerwear like cloaks and hoodies, "sometimes even 2 sizes up to fit extra layers under." Frequently asked questions
Which cities is Breakaway visiting in 2027?
Breakaway's 2027 Phase One lists four stops: Tampa on April 16–17, Atlanta on May 14–15, Ohio on May 28–29 and Minnesota on June 25–26. Its season page says Phase 2 markets will be announced soon, so Dallas and Houston dates for 2027 are still TBA. Houston's 2026 edition runs November 13–14.
What is Ubbi Dubbi?
Ubbi Dubbi is a two-day electronic music festival in Fort Worth, Texas, from Disco Presents, the company behind Lights All Night. Its 2026 edition, the seventh, took over Panther Island Pavilion with an underwater theme, and the official site says 2027 returns there on April 23–24.
What is a blue norther?
A blue norther is a fast Texas cold front. The Handbook of Texas calls it a rapidly moving autumnal cold front that drops temperatures quickly, often bringing rain and then clear, cold skies. One folk explanation says the front sweeps out of the Panhandle under a blue-black sky. At a fall festival, it's hoodie time.
Do spring storms hit Texas festivals?
Often, yes. Burning Flipside's survival guide says flash flood conditions are possible, and late-April nights there run 55–65°F with storms. Breakaway is rain or shine and permits ponchos. Pack a light rain shell or poncho, a dry layer sealed in your bag and closed-toe shoes, then dance once the sky clears.
