Music Festivals in Washington State 2027: Gorge Bass, Forest Villages and a Tacoma Dome Winter

|Magus Fawn

Draw a line down the crest of the Cascade Range and Washington State splits into two festival climates. West of it: moss, cedar, Seattle's city stages and campgrounds tucked into the foothills. East of it: dry basalt, sagebrush and the Gorge Amphitheatre on its cliff above the Columbia River.

Washington's festival year runs on both sides, and it starts early: bass fills the Tacoma Dome in the first week of February.

By October 30, 2026, eight of the nine organizers below had posted 2027 dates; Cascadia NW is still pointing to July. NOAA supplies the night lows, and our Los Angeles studio supplies the layers.

Washington State's 2027 festival calendar, wet side and dry side

The lows come from one airport on each side of the mountains: regional references, not field readings. Oregon and British Columbia live in our Pacific Northwest festival guide.

February indoors: a dome of bass and a hotel of bluegrass

Thunderdome: Excision's three nights in Tacoma (February 5–7)

Excision has set The Thunderdome for February 5–7, 2027, at the Tacoma Dome. In 2026, the Tacoma Dome's event page opened main doors at 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Outfit note: an indoor arena, then a 38°F walk back to the Tacoma Dome lots. Wear the cloak in and unzip it when the bass starts.

Wintergrass: four stages inside a Bellevue hotel (February 18–21)

Wintergrass fills Bellevue's Hyatt Regency with four days of bluegrass, old-time and other acoustic roots music. The 2027 schedule runs Thursday, February 18 to Sunday, February 21, on stages named Grand, Evergreen, Regency and Auditorium. Sierra Hull, The Jerry Douglas Band and Della Mae are on the bill, and kids 12 and younger are admitted free.

Outfit note: impromptu jams and four hotel stages want a soft cotton tee; the cloak covers the February walk to the hotel doors.

Forest camps west of the mountains

Cascadia NW Arts & Music Festival: villages in the Granite Falls woods (2027 dates TBA)

About an hour northeast of Seattle, Cascadia NW spends three days in the forest near Granite Falls with electronic music, visual art, workshops and performance. Founded in 2014 by a nonprofit, it takes no corporate sponsorship. Campers can join themed villages. No 2027 date is posted; the undated about page points to July.

Outfit note: Mythica village holds a Mythical Creatures Parade and offers costumes to anyone who needs one. A wolf on your cloak gives you a head start.

Re/Evolution: Summerjam: seven days under Whitehorse Mountain (August 2–8)

The seventh Re/Evolution: Summerjam runs seven days, August 2–8, 2027, at Darrington Music Park, with the Stillaguamish River close by. Four music stages split multi-genre sets, EDM, live bands and free-form dance, and a fifth hosts workshops. It's all ages: kids 15 and under come free, and every general admission ticket includes tent camping.

Outfit note: a week of camping means a week of foothill nights, which run a few degrees under our Sea-Tac figure. Pack joggers you can sleep in.

Two Gorge weekends: Beyond Wonderland and Bass Canyon

Beyond Wonderland at The Gorge: Insomniac's June campout (June 25–27)

Insomniac's Beyond Wonderland at The Gorge promises "three nights of camping and two full days of electronic dance music" on June 25–27, 2027, with art and costumed performers. Campers choose among eight sites and glamping areas, Royal Shipyard and Fox Den among them.

Outfit note: June nights at Wenatchee average 54.9°F. Our Beyond Wonderland Gorge outfit guide dresses the Alice theme hour by hour.

Bass Canyon: Excision's August weekend at the Gorge (August 13–15)

Bass Canyon returns August 13–15, 2027, with three days of bass and three nights of camping. It's 18+, and passes cover all three days; there are no single-day tickets.

Outfit note: August afternoons at Wenatchee average 86.4°F, so the cloak waits in the tent until the late sets. Read our Bass Canyon outfit guide for the full weekend.

Seattle Center's bookends and an Okanogan barter field

Okanogan Spring Faire: barter season near Tonasket (May 21–23)

Born in 1974 as a place to swap a farm's extra harvest for winter supplies, the Okanogan Family Faire holds its Spring Faire on May 21–23, 2027, near Tonasket. Its camping page sets the frame: gates from 8 a.m. Friday, the end at 5 p.m. Sunday, no coming and going, and no phone signal. The October faire hasn't posted 2027 dates yet.

Outfit note: the camping page promises frosty nights up there, so plan below Wenatchee's 48.7°F May low. Our story The Trader in the Wizard Cloak follows a barter chain on a frosty faire night.

Northwest Folklife Festival: Memorial Day weekend at Seattle Center (May 28–31)

The Northwest Folklife Festival fills Seattle Center over Memorial Day weekend, May 28–31, 2027. Its FAQ says donations, sponsors and hundreds of volunteers let it open without a financial barrier. In 2026 its cultural focus was Ubuntu: "I am because we are."

Outfit note: four days of walking between stages: a cotton tee, good shoes and something with a hood for evenings near Sea-Tac's 48.7°F May low.

Bumbershoot: Seattle's arts and music weekend since 1971 (September 4–5)

Bumbershoot began at Seattle Center in 1971 and returns there September 4–5, 2027. It's all ages, and its producers also run Level 1, a year-round electronic room downtown. Its 2026 FAQ promised rain or shine, doors at 12:30 p.m.

Outfit note: early September nights at Sea-Tac average 53.6°F. A silver crop hoodie covers the afternoon; add a cloak over it after dark.

How different are Washington's two sides at night?

Very. Seattle-Tacoma International averages 37.7°F on February nights and a gentle 56.8°F in July, by NOAA's 1991–2020 normals. Wenatchee, on the dry side, swings far wider: 27.4°F nights in February, 87.6°F July afternoons. Its twelve monthly rain normals add up to one fifth of Sea-Tac's.

Month Sea-Tac high / low Wenatchee high / low
February 50.3°F / 37.7°F 41.6°F / 27.4°F
May 66.3°F / 48.7°F 71.6°F / 48.7°F
June 71.1°F / 53.0°F 78.2°F / 54.9°F
July 77.4°F / 56.8°F 87.6°F / 61.8°F
August 77.6°F / 57.2°F 86.4°F / 61.0°F
September 71.6°F / 53.6°F 76.7°F / 52.5°F

Pangborn sits about 23 miles from the Gorge; the Okanogan hills and Darrington's foothills run cooler. Other months: our 2027 festival calendar with night lows.

Packing for both sides of the Cascades

Glacier ice on Rainier, drizzle over Puget Sound, the green of the firs: that's our Washington palette, and two cloaks lead it.

Smiling woman with long blonde waves under the hood of the open Dream Weaver Blue women's festival cloak, mirrored aviators, a forehead jewel and a teal bodysuit with fishnets: a violet-winged bird on the sleeve and pale columns of light down the front

A wolf in glacier blue. The Dream Weaver Blue women's festival cloak ($250) pours ice blue into cobalt and turquoise, sets a violet-winged bird on the sleeve and drops pale columns of light down both fronts, like Rainier's snowmelt in June. Up close, an amber-eyed wolf peers out from each panel. Our pick for Thunderdome or Mythica's creature parade.

Our cloaks are 200 g/m² micro-mink lined with black or white faux fur. Heavy cords tighten the hood, the front closes on a double zipper, and four pockets hide in it: a deep one on each hip and two tucked in the lining, one with a zip. Unisex sizing, XS to 5XL.

Festivalgoer in aviators and layered cord necklaces pinching the zipper pull of the open Void Mandala men's festival cloak: silver-grey mandalas over charcoal, worn with a charcoal henley and grey jeans, banners and shade sails behind

Rain grey, mandala by mandala. The Void Mandala men's festival cloak ($250) sets silver-grey mandalas on a charcoal ground, broad wheels near the hem and smaller rounds up the sleeves, each edged in petals and dots: a Puget Sound sky in November, worked in lace. Wear it to Wintergrass or Summerjam's last night.

Seen from behind, a blonde woman with a braid across her crown, chandelier earrings and beaded bracelets in the Cosmic Cross Silver crushed velvet crop hoodie: silver-white tracery on lavender grey with charcoal diamonds, lavender velvet shorts

Silver for Seattle Center. The Cosmic Cross Silver women's crushed velvet crop hoodie ($75) draws silver-white tracery over lavender grey, with charcoal diamonds set in a mirror image down the back and the hood. The velvet is crushed, 240 g/m², cropped at the waist with full-length sleeves and a cord at the hood; sizes S–2XL. Our Bumbershoot afternoon pick.

Man with long straight hair, gold mirrored aviators, a dark patterned tank, pendant necklaces and black lace-up boots in the Angel Catcher Teal joggers: cobalt and aqua wings at the hips and aqua mandala rosettes on the thighs over charcoal and black

Meltwater blue, hip to ankle. The Angel Catcher Teal joggers ($100; $105 in 2XL, $108 in 3XL) spread cobalt and aqua wings over each hip, set aqua mandala rosettes on the thighs and run blue linework down the shins, over charcoal and black. Inside, the 308 g/m² recycled-poly knit is fleece-brushed, and the ankles are cuffed. They fit slim, XS–3XL; take a bigger size for long johns at the Spring Faire.

Man with short wavy dark hair, dark aviators and friendship bracelets in the Angel Catcher Light Green cotton t-shirt: leaf green and lime with a Flower of Life hexagon, green rosettes and a six-pointed star drawn in black, black cargo shorts

Fern green for the Evergreen State. The Angel Catcher Light Green cotton t-shirt ($60) centers a dark green hexagon holding a Flower of Life on the chest, rings it with rosettes in leaf green and lime and draws a six-pointed star in black line below, with violet sparks between. Washington calls itself the Evergreen State, and this shirt agrees. All cotton, 190 g/m², in sizes XS to 5XL.

The Spring Faire has no re-entry: bring the $150 hooded blanket

Leave the Okanogan faire and you pay full price to get back in, so whatever keeps you warm has to come through the gate with you. Carry in our hooded blanket ($150), a single oversized 4XL pullover in polyester fleece at 300 g/m²: quarter zip at the collar, an oversized front pocket, cat ears on the hood.

Whitehorse Mountain on the seventh night

By Summerjam's seventh night, the tents below Whitehorse Mountain have been home for a week. The ridge goes dark, the forest stage plays on, and a spare hood travels down the row. From Darrington, the rest of the map is in our must-attend festival list for 2027.

Frequently asked questions

What is The Thunderdome at the Tacoma Dome?

The Thunderdome is Excision's indoor bass weekend at the Tacoma Dome, three nights from February 5 to 7, 2027. Bass Canyon's PNW Pass FAQ said three-day and single-day 2027 tickets were on sale by late October 2026. The Tacoma Dome's 2026 event page required guests to be 18 or older, with government photo ID.

Which Cascadia NW village suits families?

Ecotopia. Cascadia NW calls it the family camp, linked to the Kids' Zone, with yoga, sustainability talks and a sacred fire for stories. The other villages lean elsewhere: Technosis, or Colony One, gathers house and bass fans; Mythica holds storytelling, performance and a creature parade; Q Camp celebrates LGBTQ+ creativity. Camping outside a village works too.

Is Re/Evolution: Summerjam a jam-band festival or an EDM festival?

Both. Its experience page names jam bands, electronic artists and folk singers, and the stages divide the sound: Main Stage for multi-genre sets, Sonic Temple for EDM, Mystical Forest for live bands, Ecstatic Temple for free-form dance sets, and a Workshop Stage for talks. The 2027 artists are still to come; dates are August 2–8.

How does the Okanogan Spring Faire handle power and campfires?

Quietly and carefully. The faire allows only solar generators and inverters, with no gas generators. Each campfire needs a permit, free at the faire's Info Booth, and has to burn in an approved container with someone watching it, with a five-gallon bucket of water and a shovel close by. The 2027 Spring Faire runs May 21–23.
