Pennsylvania packs much of its festival year into one stretch of summer. In 2027, Big Dub's teaser poster points to July 20 for its bass campout in Artemas, Musikfest takes over Bethlehem from August 5, Elements fills the woods beside Pocono Raceway on August 6, and the Philadelphia Folk Festival plays its 64th year on Old Pool Farm the week after.
Pittsburgh, the Roots Picnic and HiJinx fill out the year. In the mountains the packing list changes: NOAA puts Mount Pocono's normal August low at 56.3°F, 11.6 degrees under Philadelphia's airport.
Pennsylvania's 2027 dates beside two NOAA stations
By October 30, 2026, five of these eight had posted 2027 dates, from Pittsburgh's arts festival in June to the Folk Fest in mid-August; the other three carry their 2026 dates.

Philadelphia's figure fits the city weekends and Mount Pocono's fits Elements; Pittsburgh, Bethlehem, Artemas and Old Pool Farm land between the two, so tent campers should pack for the colder one. Beyond Pennsylvania, see our 66-festival calendar and the 2027 trips we'd fly for.
Three campouts: a bass farm, the raceway woods and Old Pool Farm
Big Dub: swim parties, drum circles and four stages in Artemas (July 20–25)
Big Dub Festival's home-page teaser gives July 20–25, 2027 at Four Quarters Farm in Artemas, though its ticket link still says 2026. It lists four stages (bass, dubstep, drum and bass, house, techno), nightly secret headliners, daily swim parties and 300 decorated acres. The festival FAQ says to bring cash, a flashlight and a dust mask, and to expect weak signal and no outlets.
Outfit note: six days on a farm need two kits. Cotton or velvet tees for the swim-party afternoons; the cloak for the drum circle, since July lows in the Pennsylvania hills can slip under 60°F.
Elements: early arrival Thursday, stages open until 3 a.m. (August 6–8)
Elements still shows its 2026 edition on the home page, but its FAQ gives August 6–8, 2027, Friday through Sunday, at Pocono Raceway, with an early-arrival Thursday on August 5. The venue opens 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. Friday through Sunday, and the main stage runs noon to 2 a.m. Every campsite sits within a 5–15 minute walk of the gates, and bikes are welcome in the campground. Small propane grills are allowed at camp; open fires are not.
Outfit note: with Mount Pocono's August normal low at 56.3°F, pull on brushed-fleece joggers after the 2 a.m. main-stage finish, and a cloak on top. Our Elements guide dresses each elemental stage, and our 2027 Northeast hub carries on to Vermont and New York.
Philadelphia Folk Festival: the 64th year on Old Pool Farm (August 13–15)
The Philadelphia Folk Festival returns to Old Pool Farm in Upper Salford Township, about 45 minutes outside Philadelphia, for its 64th year on August 13–15, 2027. The Philadelphia Folksong Society plans seven stages, with music from 11 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday and until 9:30 p.m. Sunday. Campers arrive Thursday for a kick-off concert of their own, and the camping page lets kids 4 and under in free.
Outfit note: campfires stay at row ends beside the camp roads, never between sites, so pack a hooded layer and a low beach chair for the Martin Stage hill.
Free stages in Bethlehem and Pittsburgh
Musikfest: 16 stages across Bethlehem (August 5–15)
Musikfest has set August 5–15, 2027 in Bethlehem, and its 2027 poster is already up. Founded in 1984, it is "the nation's largest free music festival" in ArtsQuest's words, with 16 stages (all but one free), 400-plus performers and more than a million visitors a year.
Outfit note: a cap and cotton for the August sun, a light layer after sundown.
Three Rivers Arts Festival: free music on Pittsburgh's Arts Landing (June 4–6 and 10–13)
The Three Rivers Arts Festival announced its 2027 dates on October 30, 2026: June 4–6 and June 10–13 at Arts Landing in Pittsburgh's Cultural District. Free since 1960, it mixes live music, dance, gallery shows, family activities and an Artist Market. The 2026 FAQ says events run rain or shine.
Outfit note: two weekends of June evenings call for one zip-up layer, since June nights fall between the table's 53.4°F and 63.9°F.
Waiting on 2027 dates in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh
Roots Picnic: The Roots on the Belmont Plateau (2027 dates TBA)
The Roots Picnic took the Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia on May 30–31, 2026, per its 2026 FAQ. The Roots shared that lineup with Kehlani, De La Soul, Corinne Bailey Rae, Ledisi and Yolanda Adams. Its 2027 weekend hasn't been announced.
Outfit note: Philadelphia's May normal low is 54.2°F: bring sleeves for the closing set.
Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival: a street festival on Liberty Avenue (2027 dates TBA)
The Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival held its 16th edition on September 17–20, 2026, with the Jazz Train, an evening with Samara Joy and a free street festival on Liberty Avenue.
Outfit note: a velvet tee under an open cloak suits a September evening downtown.
HiJinx: New Year's Eve at the Convention Center (2027 dates TBA)
HiJinx runs December 30–31, 2026 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, doors at 4 p.m., 18 and over. Its FAQ offers no coat check and no re-entry. Our HiJinx outfit guide has the details, and The Secret Santa in the Crane Cab, our December story, sets a techno party inside an old steel-mill building.
Outfit note: there's no coat check, only lockers, so plan to wear the cloak open inside and zip it on Arch Street.
Mountain air and city air: Mount Pocono and Philadelphia's airport
Mount Pocono's station sits about 1,900 feet up; Philadelphia's airport sits near sea level. From May through September, the mountain's normal low runs roughly 10 to 12 degrees below the airport's, widest in July and August.
| Month | Mount Pocono high / low | Philadelphia airport high / low |
|---|---|---|
| June | 73.0°F / 53.4°F | 83.2°F / 63.9°F |
| July | 77.7°F / 58.1°F | 87.8°F / 69.6°F |
| August | 75.7°F / 56.3°F | 85.8°F / 67.9°F |
| September | 68.5°F / 49.6°F | 78.9°F / 60.9°F |
Data: NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information, 1991–2020 monthly normals for Mount Pocono Mountains Airport (USW00054789) and Philadelphia International Airport (USW00013739), read October 30, 2026.
A gold lattice cloak leads the Pennsylvania wardrobe
Our Magus Fawn picks run Pocono forest green, deep violet and gold, for nights in the 50s.

Gold over emerald. The Mystic Eye Gold women's festival cloak ($250) nets the front in gold Flower of Life circles on black. Glittering emerald and teal strips run down each side, gold-ringed swirl medallions sit at pocket height, and more Flower of Life rounds crown the shoulders. The back, not pictured, stacks three discs of blue Flower of Life geometry under the winged gold eye that names the design. Zipped, as in our cover photo, it shows gold from collar to knee.
Micro-mink polyester makes the shell (200 g/m²); the faux fur inside comes black or white. Drawstrings tighten the hood, two sliders share the front zipper, deep pockets sit at both hips, and inside there's one open pocket and one zipped. Unisex sizing runs XS–5XL.

Violet script for the folk-fest dusk. The Enochian Vision Purple women's festival cloak ($250) lays rows of amber-gold angelic script over violet scrollwork on black, with violet crescents across a gold mandala on the chest. It is the quieter of our two cloaks, made for a Sunday evening at Old Pool Farm, XS–5XL.

Violet and olive for an Elements afternoon. The Forest Wizard Purple yoga leggings ($70) run a beaded rose vine down one thigh past spiky grey-green leaves and an olive horn; below the knee, violet turns to dark scales. Four-way stretch microfiber (225 g/m², polyester-elastane), tall patterned waistband, XS–XL.

Neon wings for the campground. The Angel Catcher Green joggers ($100; $105 in 2XL, $108 in 3XL) spread bright green feathered wings across the hips, set green-and-white mandalas on the thighs and fill the rest with grey-black petals. The 308 g/m² polyester-elastane knit has a brushed-fleece inside, side pockets, a drawstring waist and cuffed legs. Sizes XS–3XL run slim; go one or two up for a looser hang.

Velvet for the Bethlehem stages. The Golden Phoenix crushed velvet t-shirt ($60) gives the bird a gold-ringed green heart at the breastbone, blue-violet wings over the ribs and a teal head at the collar, all outlined in gold on black. Crushed velvet (240 g/m²) shimmers under stage light; the print also comes on cotton (190 g/m², $60) and poly jersey (180 g/m², $50) for August afternoons. XS–5XL.
Cat ears and fleece for Big Dub's tent mornings
Big Dub's mornings start in a tent before they move to the water. Pull our hooded blanket ($150) over your sleep clothes. It's 300 g/m² polyester, brushed into a heavy fleece in one oversize 4XL; the hood wears cat ears, and a quarter zip and a deep front pocket finish it.
Pittsburgh in June, Artemas in July, Bethlehem in August: when to order
Each last call below is the latest order that still arrives, at our slowest, by the last business day before opening: 11 business days in production, then 14 in transit. Each early date sits one working week sooner. Weekends and federal holidays never count.
- Three Rivers Arts Festival, Friday, June 4: early date Wednesday, April 21, last call Wednesday, April 28 (Memorial Day isn't counted).
- Big Dub, Tuesday, July 20: early date Thursday, June 3, last call Thursday, June 10 (the Juneteenth and Fourth of July holidays, observed June 18 and July 5, aren't counted).
- Musikfest, Thursday, August 5: early date Tuesday, June 22, last call Tuesday, June 29 (July 5 isn't counted).
For Elements the count gives June 23 and June 30, the same pair in our 42-festival order-by list. A cloak over a HiJinx hoodie or a Pocono fleece needs room: our FAQ points cloak and hoodie buyers a size up, two when the layer beneath is thick. Sizing can't be returned, so let us check yours first at art@magusfawn.com. At $70 the US shipping charge disappears, and every piece above gets there alone except the tee.
Sunday night on Old Pool Farm
The last Folk Fest set ends at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, yet the camping page still tells campers to pack a guitar. Somewhere between the tents, someone takes that advice. Zip the gold lattice to the collar when the August air turns, and stay for one more song.

Frequently asked questions
How does parking work at Big Dub Festival?
Big Dub's FAQ, not yet dated for 2027, charges $60 to park a car and $10 each time it comes back in. Vehicles go to general parking unless you add Car Camping, which reserves a dedicated car-camping space. Main Camp guests can drive in to unload Tuesday and Wednesday before 8 p.m. The home-page teaser gives July 20–25.
Why arrive at the Philadelphia Folk Festival on Thursday?
For the kick-off concert, which only campers attend. In 2027 it falls on Thursday, August 12, the night before the festival's three main days, August 13–15, at Old Pool Farm. Camping gates open at 10 a.m. that Thursday, or at 2 p.m. Wednesday with early entry, and kids 4 and under camp free.
Where in Pittsburgh is Arts Landing?
Arts Landing is downtown, in the Cultural District, an open-air public space planned and run by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust. It opened with the 2026 Three Rivers Arts Festival, bringing a great lawn, a permanent stage, public art and a family play area, and it is now the festival's long-term home. The 2027 festival returns June 4–6 and June 10–13.
Do Musikfest and Elements overlap in 2027?
Yes. Musikfest runs August 5–15, 2027 in Bethlehem, and Elements runs August 6–8 at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, so the whole Elements weekend falls inside Musikfest's run. Fifteen of Musikfest's 16 stages are free, so a weekday in Bethlehem before or after Elements adds music without another ticket.
