Angel Catcher Cloaks in Every Color: How to Choose the One for You (or Them)

|Magus Fawn
Sacred geometry rave cloaks in every color of the rainbow for both men and women.

The box is heavier than it looks.

The ribbon first, then a soft fold of faux fur, then the hood. When they lift it free, the cloak drops open in one long pour of color, and somebody on the couch says "oh" in the voice people save for fireworks. They zip it to the chin, pull up the hood and turn around, and between their shoulders a flower of interlocking circles glows inside a pair of feathered wings.

And the color is right. It's theirs: the shade they would have picked if you'd asked, which you didn't, because it was a surprise.

With Angel Catcher, getting there takes one big decision. It's the design we've printed in more colors than any other: 33 cloak listings across 18 colorways, nine glowing on black and nine drawn on a light ground. We're Magus and Lylyth Fawn, the Los Angeles visionary artists behind every one. Here's the whole lineup as our photos show it, and the shades we'd choose for the people on your list.

”Angel Catcher” is our most popular piece, with the powerful symbolism and esoteric magick, it cloaks the wearer in protection and high vibes. It speaks to everyone who sees it - so we decided to offer one in every color. We also made a “light” version, in softer colors.

What every Angel Catcher cloak shares

Every Angel Catcher cloak, light or dark, men's or women's listing, is the same Magus Fawn festival double zipper cloak (yes, it zips from the top and bottom! Choose: a micro-mink poly outer, an ultra-soft microfiber fleece lining in black or white faux fur, a hood with heavy drawstrings, a double front zipper and four pockets. Only the color changes, so you can choose with your heart.

That makes it the easiest big gift to get right. At $250 a cloak is the investment piece of a festival wardrobe: made to order in the shade you pick, lined in the faux fur you pick, and printed to stay vivid through years of festivals.

  • Pockets: two deep side pockets, plus two interior stash pockets, one with a vertical zipper.
  • Fabric and print: listed fabric weight 200 g/m², dye-sublimated, so in the listing's words, "high def images won't fade or crack, ever."
  • Fit: men's and women's listings share this spec and a unisex fit from XS to 5XL, and our FAQ points layerers toward a bigger size, "sometimes even 2 sizes up to fit extra layers under."

Warmth, layering and cost per wear are covered in our buyer's guide, Are Festival Cloaks Worth It?

What's the difference between the light and dark Angel Catcher cloaks?

Light vs. dark angel catcher festival cloaks. Light grey and silver raver girl cloak and a black and grey sacred geometry cloak on a handsome man.

Dark Angel Catcher cloaks set the design in one glowing color on a black ground, so the geometry seems to float in the dark. Light versions flip it: a pale ground of white, cream or pastel, with the linework and the Flower of Life drawn in color. Dark reads bold after sunset; light glows softly in daylight.

The composition never changes. A Flower of Life, the honeycomb of overlapping circles, sits at the center of the back with a six-pointed star above and below, feathered wings sweeping toward the shoulders and lacy mandalas at the hem. Seven-circle patterns appear on artifacts from the 7th century BCE onward, while the name "Flower of Life" is modern, from New Age writing (Wikipedia).

From across a field, a dark shade is a black silhouette with a lantern of color at its center; a light shade reads as one soft color and saves its linework for close up. How do you pick an Angel Catcher color for someone else?

Start with what they already wear, then layer in their music and their season. Friends who live in black want a dark colorway; pastel dreamers want a light one. Match the glow to their favorite genre, think about whether they camp in summer or rave in winter, and when torn, choose the color of their favorite kandi.

  • The techno regular: Grey. Silver on black respects the all-black techno code and still catches the strobe.
  • The bass head on the rail: Green or Red, loud enough for the crew to find.
  • The sunrise chaser: Light Blue or Light Teal, cool pastels for the hour the sky goes pale.
  • The trance family member: Light Purple, Light Pink or Light Yellow.
  • The sunset-set house dancer: Light Orange, Orange or Yellow.
  • The minimalist: Light Gray, ivory and charcoal that goes with everything.
  • The friend you can't read: the original blue-and-aqua Angel Catcher.
  • The crew: one design in different colors matches without matching. See our guide to matching festival outfits for couples and crews.

For the artist on your list, any shade will do. Phil, reviewing an Angel Catcher cloak in October 2023: "I work from home and in a heavily sacred geometrically themed shop, so this is absolutely the PERFECT piece to wear day and night while I work on my art."

Four Angel Catcher colorways to wrap first

Four picks, starting with two that have never had a spotlight of their own.

The original Angel Catcher, women's listing

This is where the design began. The Angel Catcher women's festival cloak ($250, XS–5XL) fans electric-blue and aqua feathers out from a jade Flower of Life, with white six-pointed stars above and below and gray lace mandalas toward the hem, all on black. Give it when you love someone and have no idea what their favorite color is.

Light Orange: a peach sky with a coral heart

The Angel Catcher Light Orange women's festival cloak ($250, XS–5XL) is our pick for the friend who lives for the sunset set. Coral lines lace a blush-peach ground, small aqua stars glint across it, and a rust-red Flower of Life sits at the chest, split by the zipper.

Grey, shown with the white lining

The Grey Angel Catcher men's festival cloak ($250, XS–5XL) is the most monochrome dark shade: silver-white stars and a Flower of Life on black, nothing louder than moonlight. The photo shows the lining choice at work: white faux fur frames the open front in a bright edge, where black would keep the cloak one dark column.

Light Blue: periwinkle for the first light

The Angel Catcher Light Blue men's festival cloak ($250, XS–5XL) draws the design in periwinkle and violet-blue on white, around a cobalt Flower of Life. It's the pale blue of the hour before dawn, for the friend who's still dancing at the last set. Our psytrance outfit guide builds the rest of the look.

Angel Catcher beyond the cloak

Front view of the Angel Catcher cotton unisex pullover hoodie: an aqua Flower of Life ringed by blue feathers, star medallions in teal circles and smoky gray interlace

The everyday second gift. The Angel Catcher cotton unisex pullover hoodie ($100, XS–6XL) sets an aqua Flower of Life in a ring of blue feathers on smoky gray interlace. It's 100% cotton at 310 g/m², with a kangaroo pocket and drawstring hood, and it layers beneath a cloak when the night turns cold.

The gift that skips the size question. The Angel Catcher Teal hooded blanket with ears ($150) wraps the same blue-and-teal palette into 300 g/m² poly fleece with a cat-ear hood, a front quarter zip and an oversize front pocket. It comes in one size (4XL), so it's the surest surprise on this page.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Angel Catcher art the same on every colorway?

Yes. Every Angel Catcher cloak carries the same Magus Fawn composition: a Flower of Life at the center of the back, a six-pointed star above and below it, feathered wings toward the shoulders and lacy mandalas near the hem. Only the palette changes, from neon green on black to coral on blush, so a new shade never means new art.

Is the Angel Catcher design on the front or the back of the cloak?

Both, with the centerpiece on the back. The Flower of Life and its two stars sit between the shoulders, where everyone behind you on the dance floor sees them. The pattern also wraps the front panels, sleeves and hood, and on light colorways such as Light Orange, a Flower of Life sits at the chest too.

Which Angel Catcher colors come only as a women's listing?

Three: Pink, Light Pink and Light Purple. The other 15 colorways come as both a men's and a women's listing. Every Magus Fawn cloak shares the same spec and a unisex fit from XS to 5XL, so anyone can order a women's-only shade. Choose the size from your measurements, not from the listing's name.
