Ondalinda hands its guests three dress codes for one weekend in the snow: Fabulous Fluo on Thursday, Choco Chic on Friday and Lunar Howlers on Saturday. Until now its festivals have unfolded on warm shores, at Careyes on Mexico's Pacific coast and, in 2024, beside the Adriatic in Montenegro.
So this costume brief comes with a twist of altitude. A neon ski race on the Solaise slopes, a sunset party on the terrace of the highest hotel in the French Alps, then a wolf-themed night at La Folie Douce that keeps the lasers going until 5 a.m.
Ondalinda's Val d'Isère page dates the edition April 8–11, 2027, Thursday to Sunday, with one main event on each of the first three days. Sunday is left open, and the page invites guests to stay on for the week. For each dress code we've built a look, then checked April against the village's own weather station and counted the business days an order needs to reach France.
Fluo, chocolate and moonlight: the O x Val d'Isère wardrobe
A Magus Fawn wardrobe for Ondalinda's Alpine weekend splits cleanly along the dress codes. Thursday daytime belongs to ski kit with one loud accent. Thursday and Friday evenings ask for velvet, with a faux-fur-lined cloak on top as soon as the sunlight slides off the slopes. Saturday asks for the moon, and a cloak you can keep on from a 9 p.m. dinner to a 5 a.m. finish.
Ondalinda weaves fashion into its gatherings and calls it "style as an active art form," and its Val d'Isère page tells guests their participation is the final art piece. We read that as permission to dress like you mean it. If one mountain weekend won't be enough this season, our roundup of 2027's ski and snow festivals covers Rise, Snowboxx, Tomorrowland Winter and Snowbombing, with official dates and how cold each village gets after dark.
April at 1,850 meters: frost before breakfast, a thaw by lunch
The numbers below come from Météo-France's VAL D'ISERE JOS station, which stands at 1,850 meters, exactly the altitude the tourist office gives for the village. They describe the streets between your chalet and the next party, measured where you'll actually walk.
| April in Val d'Isère (1,850 m) | 1992–2020 average |
|---|---|
| Afternoon high | 6.4°C (44°F) |
| Low, around dawn | −2.0°C (28°F) |
| Nights that reach 0°C (32°F) | 20.8 |
| Nights that reach −5°C (23°F) | 5.2 |
| Days that never climb above 0°C | 1.7 |
| Days logging 1 mm of precipitation or more | 8.8 |
| Rain and snow for the month, measured as water | 57.1 mm |
Figures from Météo-France's climatological sheet for station 73304005, Val d'Isère, which averages temperature and precipitation over 1992–2020; we read it on October 30, 2026.
Frost visits most April nights in the village, but an afternoon that never thaws is rare, fewer than two a month. The wind is gentle on average, and gusts of 58 km/h or more arrive on fewer than one April day. The record high, 16.8°C (62°F), fell on April 9, 2011, the same date as 2027's Friday party. The record low, −15.7°C (4°F), is fresh: April 1, 2026.
Two of the weekend's venues sit well above the station. Le Refuge de Solaise is at 2,551 meters, and Le Panoramic, a Saturday lunch spot, at 3,032 meters on the Grande Motte glacier in Tignes. As a rule of thumb, the air in the standard atmosphere cools 6.5°C for every 1,000 meters you climb, so expect the Solaise terrace to run about 4.5°C (8°F) colder than the village on the same evening.
What does a 2027 Ondalinda Val d'Isère ticket include?
The 2027 Ondalinda Val d'Isère ticket is a three-day pass to the three main events: Neon Ski Club on Thursday, Marmot Mountain on Friday and Wolf's Den on Saturday, food included. Prices listed on October 30, 2026: General Explorer €1,350; VIP Explorer €2,750, which adds VIP areas, a refined dining menu, priority access to add-ons and exclusive merch.
Beyond the main events, the program lists Thursday's talk and dinner at La Mourra, group skiing with the Ondalinda crew on Friday and Saturday mornings, hikes for non-skiers, and lunches at La Grande Ourse, which has welcomed guests since 1936, at Le Panoramic, and at L'Art des Mets, reached on foot through the Vallée du Manchet. Add-ons go on sale at a later date. Ondalinda also helps members book partner hotels, private chalets and apartments at preferential rates. Its page notes that mountain weather can move times and places, so pack for flexibility.
Ondalinda is members-only. The Ondalinda FAQ describes it as invitation-only and explains how to ask to join. For a week-long take on raving in the French Alps, with an 18+ rule and an open-air main stage, our Snowboxx outfits guide covers Avoriaz in March.
Thursday's Rainbow Run: Fabulous Fluo on the Solaise race track
Neon Ski Club opens the weekend at 10 a.m. on the Solaise Race Track with the Rainbow Run, a ski race organized by country, with categories for every skill level, live commentary and the Ondalinda Cup for the winners. Guests are asked to race for their flag in their brightest colors. After the race, the party moves to the terrace at L'Étincelle for daytime DJ sets and lunch until 4 p.m.
Out on the course, your ski jacket and helmet carry the fluo. The moment the helmet comes off at L'Étincelle, the brightest thing on the terrace can be your hat.

The Lucid bucket hat ($50; XS, S/M or L/XL) brings the whole fluo spectrum to one crown. The print never sits still: hot pink and violet whirlpools, lime and aqua starbursts, orange ripples, and on the brim a little hot-pink heart with an orange glow. A lucid dream is one where you know you're dreaming and get to steer, and a ski race in highlighter colors at 10 a.m. qualifies. The polyester weighs 275 g/m², so the hat can ride rolled up in a jacket pocket during the race and come out on the terrace, where a full brim is welcome under April's high-altitude sun.
Dinner with an Olympic champion: a velvet collar for La Mourra
Thursday night's add-on is Ondalinda's Explorer's Club: a talk and dinner at La Mourra from 7 p.m. to midnight with Olympic champion Jean-Pierre Vidal, other professional skiers and former racers. This year's theme is transmission, the lessons one generation passes to the next. It's an evening of stories over dinner, the one night of the weekend that calls for a collar.

Our Solar Eclipse crushed velvet polo ($65, S–5XL) sets a black moon against a burst of gold just below the collar. Under it, a pale Flower of Life disc hangs in thin gold orbits, and a mandala in teal, gold and rust unfolds down the front, all over black crossed by fine pale lines. That gold burst is the corona: in a total solar eclipse, the sun's faint outer atmosphere is all that shows around the dark disc of the moon. Wear it Thursday, and on Saturday the Lunar Eclipse cloak completes the pair. The crushed velvet weighs 240 g/m² and blends polyester with 5% spandex for a little give; the cut is regular, short-sleeved and collared, and it layers easily under a cloak for the walk to dinner.
Choco Chic at 2,551 meters: the Golden Scarab cloak
Marmot Mountain is Friday's party, from 5 to 10 p.m. at Le Refuge de Solaise, which the tourist office calls the highest hotel in the French Alps, reached in winter only by gondola. When the lifts close, DJs take over its terrace, and chocolate treats and savory bites circulate. The dress code is Choco Chic, and the sun sets mid-party.
The host, Ondalinda says, is the marmot. The alpine marmot can spend up to nine months a year hibernating, so the guest of honor may well sleep through its own party. Everyone else will be on a terrace at 2,551 meters as the US Naval Observatory's sun calculator puts sunset at 8:10 p.m. for Val d'Isère on April 9 (on a flat horizon; the peaks will take the sun a little sooner).

The sunset cloak. Our Golden Scarab men's festival cloak ($250) is gold on black, with bronze smoke drifting through it like cocoa stirred into cream, which makes it about as Choco Chic as a cloak can be. Across the chest, two gold-feathered wings open around violet-blue insets. Above them, a red sun disc framed in gold wears a little striped triangle like a cap, and violet haze drifts over the black ground, dusted with gold. The scarab is Khepri, the Egyptian god of the morning sun, whose name also meant "to come into existence." In Egyptian belief he pushed the morning sun across the sky, the way a scarab pushes its ball along the ground. Wearing him to watch the sun go down over the Tarentaise feels like a promise that it comes back.
The scarab rides on micro-mink polyester (listed fabric weight: 200 g/m²), backed by one lining of soft microfiber faux fur in the color you pick at checkout, black or white. A double zipper lets you open the hem to dance and keep the collar closed against the terrace air, and thick drawstrings snug the hood close. Cold fingers get two deep side pockets; a lift pass and phone get the pair inside, one closing with a zip. Every size, XS to 5XL, shares the same unisex pattern.

The chocolate layer. Under the cloak, the Brown Fractal Bubble crushed velvet T-shirt wears Choco Chic all the way down: a lattice of fractal bubble rosettes in bronze, olive and tan over dark brown, like the pattern pressed into a box of pralines. It costs $60 in crushed velvet (240 g/m²) or cotton and $50 in poly jersey, XS–5XL, and the velvet is the one for the Refuge's fireside lounge, where its pile picks up the flames. In March 2025, Unity reviewed a crushed velvet tee in another design, bought as a gift for a festival DJ: "The quality is exceptional and the unique design is purely divine."
Morning hikes from Ouillette and the Manchet valley: the cotton layer
Ondalinda fills Friday and Saturday mornings with group skiing, 9 a.m. to noon, setting off with its crew from the official meeting point, and hikes for anyone not skiing. Friday's hike meets at Ouillette, by a lake the tourist office puts at 2,500 meters in the Solaise mountains, and Saturday's heads into the Vallée du Manchet. Under a shell, a cotton hoodie suits either.

The Galactic Alien Oracle cotton pullover hoodie ($100, XS–6XL) comes in the colors of a snowfield at dusk: periwinkle, lavender and silver-white, with a deep indigo starfield on one sleeve. Up the center a crowned seer gazes out, narrow-faced and calm, and lower down two lavender hands offer up a cluster of glowing spheres. An oracle passes knowledge forward, which fits a weekend whose Thursday talk is about what one generation hands to the next. It's 100% cotton at 310 g/m², dye-sublimated, which is unusual: the process has traditionally bonded only with polyester. Expect a drawstring hood, a relaxed fit and a front pouch. It comes out of its first wash 3–5% smaller, and after that it wants cold washes and no dryer.
Lunar Howlers: the Lunar Eclipse cloak for the Wolf's Den
For one night, Saturday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., La Folie Douce, a venue on the slopes, becomes the Wolf's Den. Ondalinda promises art, light, performance and fur, a dinner of regional dishes, and lasers over the Wolverine stage. The dress code, Lunar Howlers, asks you to answer the call of the moon.
The real moon will barely answer back. It's four days past new on April 10, 2027, a waxing crescent about 14% illuminated, and the US Naval Observatory has it setting at 12:55 a.m. on Sunday. That leaves four hours of the Wolf's Den without one, so the lunar part of Lunar Howlers is up to you.

The moon you bring. The Lunar Eclipse women's festival cloak ($250) starts with night-sky linework on the front: teal and gold paisley swirls on black, teal mandalas outlined in magenta at the forearms, and a magenta-violet glow on the upper sleeve around a pale disc. The eclipse itself waits on the back. Right under the hood hangs a copper moon, and beneath it a large pale Flower of Life medallion glows inside rings of red, rose, violet and blue. Copper is exactly right: in a total lunar eclipse, Earth's atmosphere scatters away the blue and violet in sunlight, and what reaches the Moon paints it orange-red, the "blood moon." As for the fur in Ondalinda's brief, ours is faux, a plush microfiber fleece; we'd choose the black lining here, so the hood frames you like a wolf's ruff.
Wolf's Den is the long night of the weekend, eight hours from dinner to the last DJ set. In a heated room the cloak hangs open over whatever you danced in. When you step out at the end, it zips to the chin for whatever comes next on the mountain.
The chalet hours between parties
Ondalinda's events leave long gaps for the in-between: the afternoon after Thursday's race, the hours before Friday's gondola up to Solaise, the slow Sunday after the Wolf's Den. Those hours happen in a chalet or a hotel room, often beside a window full of snow.
That's what our hooded blanket is for. It's a blanket cut like a pullover, its fleece all polyester (listed at 300 g/m²), with two cat ears standing up from the hood, a zip that opens partway down the front and an oversized pocket for your hands, a phone or a bar of chocolate. It's sized 4XL for everyone and slips on over anything you're already wearing, and every design costs the same $150.
For a story to read between the parties, Frost on Steel is our winter-festival romance, told in texts from a gondola stalled in a whiteout.
Thirty business days before the Neon Ski Club
Order by Wednesday, February 24, 2027, and your Magus Fawn pieces have a working week to spare before the Rainbow Run. Our partners start printing and sewing when you check out, a job of 7 to 11 business days, after which your parcel spends 7 to 14 business days on the Standard International route to France ($10). Have the parcel sent home, then pack it for the mountain.
The arithmetic runs from Wednesday, April 7, the eve of the Thursday opening. Thirty weekdays before it is February 24, with no US federal holiday in the way, since Presidents' Day falls on February 15. Twenty-five weekdays before it is Wednesday, March 3, the last call, which holds only if production and the post each run to their longest and nothing else slows the parcel down. Our order-by calendar for 2027 festivals explains the method.
- Sizing around a ski mid-layer. There are no returns for a size that's off, so plan around your thickest layer: the FAQ points cloak and outerwear buyers to a bigger size, as much as two up, when extra layers go underneath. Lylyth helps with sizing at art@magusfawn.com if you send your measurements and a note on your layers; the FAQ promises a reply within 1–2 business days.
- Changed your mind in France? EU rules give you 14 days to reconsider, as long as the piece is unused and its tags are on.
- Damaged or incorrect parcel? Photograph it and write to us within 48 hours of it landing.
Hoods up for the last howl
Five in the morning at La Folie Douce. The Wolverine stage goes dark, the laser ceiling folds itself away, and the pack drifts out onto the snow in twos and threes. The crescent set hours ago behind the ridge, so the only light comes from the doorway behind you and the stars over the peaks. Hoods come up one after another, faux fur framing faces, a copper moon riding between someone's shoulders. Then a single long howl goes up toward the dark summits, and the whole pack answers.

Frequently asked questions
Is Ondalinda invitation only?
Yes. Ondalinda describes itself as an exclusive, invitation-only, members-only event, and you need a personal invitation to attend. To ask to join, the FAQ suggests a friendly email introducing yourself, saying how you heard about Ondalinda and adding references if you have them. Members with a registered profile buy tickets on the website.
Is there a train to Val d'Isère?
Not to the village itself. The nearest station is Bourg-Saint-Maurice, about 30 km and 40 minutes away, served by high-speed TGV INOUI and Eurostar trains, with buses on to Val d'Isère. Flying in, the tourist office puts Geneva and Lyon airports about three hours away by car, with direct bus transfers from both.
What is the Ondalinda Cup?
The Ondalinda Cup is the prize at the Rainbow Run, Thursday's ski race on the Solaise Race Track. Guests race by country, in categories for every skill level, with live commentary, dressed in their brightest colors for the Fabulous Fluo dress code. The race opens Neon Ski Club, which continues with a terrace party at L'Étincelle until 4 p.m.
When does the Val d'Isère ski season end in 2027?
Val d'Isère's tourist office lists the 2026–27 winter season as running from November 28, 2026 to May 2, 2027. That puts Ondalinda's April 8–11 weekend comfortably inside the season, about three weeks before closing day, so the race track, the lifts and the mountain venues on Ondalinda's program fall within the resort's open dates.
