Sailboats lean into the wind on San Diego Bay while, a few steps inland, the lawn of Waterfront Park leans into a house groove.
Dancers cool their wrists at the center fountain, then drift back to the Palms stage, where a house set has been building for an hour. Over at City Steps, the techno crowd keeps its own darker weather: black on black, heads nodding in perfect time.
This is CRSSD Festival, and planning CRSSD outfits starts with the view: two days of house and techno on the water, 21+ only, skyline on one side and San Diego Bay on the other. Then the marine air drifts in, nights settle around 55–62°F, and bare shoulders start shopping for a sleeve.
We're Magus and Lylyth Fawn, Los Angeles visionary artists and festival lifers. Here's what to wear to CRSSD in 2027, from the afternoon glow to the walk out along the bay.
What should you wear to CRSSD Festival?
Wear bright, breathable pieces for a sunny waterfront afternoon and carry one warm layer for after dark. CRSSD fills San Diego's Waterfront Park with house and techno over two days, and marine air cools nights to about 55–62°F. Our formula is a printed tee, dress or kimono by day, then crushed velvet or a hooded cloak.
| When | Where you'll be | What to wear |
|---|---|---|
| Afternoon | The lawn and the fountain | Printed tee, shorts or a dress, bucket hat |
| Golden hour | The Palms (house) | A chiffon kimono floating over your base |
| After dark | City Steps (techno) | A dark bodysuit or tee, a crushed velvet crop hoodie |
| The walk out | Along the bay | A velvet hoodie or a hooded cloak |
CRSSD runs three stages. Per Electronic Groove's fall 2025 lineup coverage, Ocean View hosts the biggest live acts, the Palms spotlights "house music and groove-focused sounds", and City Steps belongs to techno and club culture. Doors open at noon both days, per the official CRSSD FAQ, and it's a one-entry day, so your evening layer comes through the gate with you.
What do you wear to the Palms stage at CRSSD?

Dress for groove, color and golden hour. The Palms is CRSSD's house stage, and house crowds dress relaxed and sun-washed: open shirts, printed dresses, bucket hats and vintage sunglasses, then a kimono when the light turns gold. Magus Fawn's Palms look pairs one bold print with a flowing chiffon layer you can dance in for hours.
The kimono. The Cyber Punk Mech chiffon kimono ($75, S–5XL) falls nearly to the ankle in violet, teal, cobalt and magenta currents, with a sash at the waist. The design imagines the machine age dreaming in color, and in a bay breeze the hem turns every step into a slow-motion entrance.

The dress. The Liquified Abyss lace-up tube dress ($70, S–5XL) swirls navy, magenta, apricot and teal like ink poured into deep water, with a black-trimmed strapless neckline and black cord lacing up the back. It's photographed with matching arm sleeves, handy once the marine air arrives.

The hat. The Egyptian Atlantis bucket hat ($50; XS, S/M or L/XL) sets gold Egyptian panels on deep navy: a tree of life at the center, golden sphinxes resting along the brim and a black-and-white flower-of-life pattern beneath it. Atlantis rose from the sea, a fitting crown for a festival on the water. CRSSD welcomes parasols, too.

What do you wear to City Steps, the techno stage at CRSSD?

Go darker and sleeker. City Steps is CRSSD's home for techno and club culture, and techno dresses black, utilitarian and minimal, usually with silver hardware and one hypnotic detail. Our City Steps look is a silver-and-charcoal bodysuit under a black crushed velvet crop hoodie: monochrome enough for the code, detailed enough for the strobes.
The code traces back to Detroit and Berlin, and our guide to what to wear to a techno party goes deeper on it.
The bodysuit. The Cosmic Cross Silver cami bodysuit ($55, XS–2XL) mirrors silver, charcoal and pale lilac filigree down the body like a cathedral window etched in pewter, with soft lavender orbs glowing at each side. Under a strobe, that hairline symmetry flickers like circuitry.
The layer. The Void Mandala crushed velvet crop hoodie ($75) scatters silver-grey mandalas across black, each one ringed like a speaker cone mid-bass. It's 240 g/m² crushed velvet with long sleeves and a drawstring hood, in S–2XL, cropped so the bodysuit stays in view. Its story: Same Channel.

What do guys wear to CRSSD?

Guys at CRSSD keep it easy: a printed tee, comfortable shorts with a drawstring, sneakers built for two days of dancing and sunglasses for the afternoon glare off the bay. Our men's CRSSD outfit starts with a cotton tee and dark printed shorts, then adds a crushed velvet hoodie once the marine air rolls in after dark.
The tee. The Angel Catcher Light Blue cotton t-shirt ($60, XS–5XL) spreads periwinkle, cobalt and ice-blue sacred geometry across the body, with a flower-of-life medallion between the shoulder blades: a dreamcatcher for angels, worn on your back. It's 100% cotton at 190 g/m², dye-sublimated so the colors won't fade.
The shorts. The Mechanical Kraken unisex cotton shorts ($65, S–5XL) wind a biomechanical kraken through gunmetal and teal, glowing eyes up top, tentacles wrapped around gothic towers and a blue orb near the hem, with a black drawstring, dark enough for City Steps. Its story: The Lights Under the Wake.

The hoodie. The Galactic Alien Oracle crushed velvet hoodie ($100) pours lavender, violet and periwinkle filigree down the body in mirrored, flame-like currents that seem to shift as the lights sweep past. It's 240 g/m² crushed velvet with a drawstring hood and kangaroo pocket, in S–2XL.

A hooded cloak for the walk along the bay

A night in the 50s is mild, which makes a cloak pure luxury. It turns the last set into a cocoon and the walk out into a victory lap. Stash it in a locker until the breeze turns.
The Shroom Flower of Life Teal men's festival cloak ($250) raises a tall mushroom up the center back in teal, aqua and violet, crowned by a flower-of-life emblem, with orbs floating around it like bubbles rising through the bay. Mushrooms are the forest's quiet network, which suits a festival where strangers become a dance circle by sunset.
Every Magus Fawn cloak shares one build: a micro-mink outer, an ultra-soft fluffy microfiber fleece lining in black or white faux fur (listed fabric weight 200 g/m²), a double front zipper, heavy drawstrings and four pockets, two deep side pockets plus two interior stash pockets, one of them zippered. Unisex fit, XS–5XL. George, reviewing a Madriax cloak in May 2023: "So comfortable you almost forgot how cool it looks!" For festivals with real cold, our guide to how to stay warm at a festival at night picks up where the bay breeze leaves off.
When is CRSSD Festival 2027?
CRSSD's 2027 dates are TBA. The festival runs twice a year at San Diego's Waterfront Park, in mid-March and late September, and the 2026 editions ran March 14–15 and September 26–27. Watch the official CRSSD site for the spring 2027 announcement, and plan your outfit order around a mid-March weekend so it arrives with room to spare.
Magus Fawn pieces are made to order: 7–11 business days of production, then 6–14 business days of delivery. Treat late January as your sewing deadline: an order placed by Thursday, January 28, 2027 reaches you by Friday, March 5 even on the slowest timeline, a week before a mid-March gate.
- US shipping is free on orders of $70 or more.
- Size outerwear for what goes under it. The Magus Fawn FAQ suggests sizing up on cloaks and hoodies, "sometimes even 2 sizes up to fit extra layers under."
- All sales are final, so if you're between sizes, email your measurements to art@magusfawn.com.

Frequently asked questions
Is CRSSD 21+?
Yes. CRSSD's official FAQ says the festival is a 21+ event only and that you must present valid ID to enter. It also notes that DMV temporary IDs aren't accepted, so bring a permanent license or a passport along with your ticket, and keep it zipped somewhere easy to reach at the gate.
Can you leave and come back in to CRSSD?
Plan to stay once you're through the gates. CRSSD's official FAQ says re-entry isn't permitted, so pack your evening layer before you leave for the park. Lockers are available for single-day or weekend rental, which gives a cloak or hoodie a safe home until the marine air arrives after sunset.
What bags can you bring to CRSSD?
Clear ones. CRSSD's official FAQ allows clear backpacks, totes and handbags up to 12 by 12 by 6 inches, and it rules out large backpacks that aren't clear, CamelBaks and hydration bladders. You can carry one empty 24-ounce clear bottle and fill it at the free refill stations near the center fountain.
How do you get to CRSSD Festival?
By foot, trolley, train or rideshare. CRSSD's official FAQ says Waterfront Park is within walking distance of Union Station, where Amtrak trains and San Diego trolleys stop, and it highly recommends ridesharing to and from the festival. The park sits on the downtown waterfront, so many downtown hotels are a short walk away.
