Lost Lands Outfit Ideas 2027: What to Wear for Bass, Dinosaurs and Ohio Nights

|Magus Fawn

The sun drops behind the tree line, and a dinosaur steps out of the dusk.

It's a sculpture, life-size, planted in the grass above Legend Valley, but when the first laser sweeps across its ribs it looks ready to walk. Down the hill the sub-bass arrives in your sternum a half-second before your ears catch it. Totems climb into the sky. A cap crusted with pins flashes in the strobe. Thousands of heads drop on the snare at once, a whole valley nodding yes.

By midnight your breath shows in the lasers, and on some nights the valley slides into the 40s before sunrise.

That's the brief for Lost Lands outfit ideas: art bold enough for a festival with dinosaurs, comfort for hours of headbanging, and a warm plan for September at 3 a.m.

We're Magus and Lylyth Fawn, two Los Angeles visionary artists whose whole life orbits festivals and the EDM world. Here's what we'd pack for Thornville, Ohio, in 2027.

What should you wear to Lost Lands 2027?

Wear bold, comfortable pieces you can headbang in from the first set to the last: a statement tee, joggers or stretchy shorts, broken-in sneakers, a hat that holds pins, and a warm hooded layer for after dark. Magus Fawn's Lost Lands formula is art up top, fleece below, and a cloak waiting for midnight.

Lost Lands is Excision's bass festival, held in mid to late September at Legend Valley in Thornville, Ohio, where life-size dinosaur sculptures loom over grass fields, woods and the Prehistoric and Crater stages. The 2026 edition ran September 18–20 and sold out, per EDM Identity. The soundtrack is dubstep and riddim, and the crowd dresses for it:

  • The uniform: oversized hoodies and joggers, with crushed velvet everywhere once the sun goes down.
  • The hat: a bucket hat or cap that collects a pin from every trade and every friend from the rail.
  • The kit: a bandana or buff for dusty fields, kandi on the wrist, chunky sneakers and a hydration pack.

Bring the dragon. Lost Lands supplies the dinosaurs. Our Electric Dragonscape design answers with a crystalline dragon in ice blue, cobalt and silver, head and wings carved from faceted, electric scales around a glowing violet core: a dinosaur that learned magick. The Electric Dragonscape crushed velvet t-shirt ($60, XS–5XL) is 240 g/m² crushed velvet, and the pile throws back every laser that crosses it (read the story behind the design: Let Her Have the Tube).

A hat for the pins. Our Temple of Sound design is a crowned goddess haloed above a Flower of Life grid, with speaker cones standing guard on either side, lavender and indigo: a temple where the subwoofers are the saints. The Temple of Sound snapback hat ($40) gives your weekend's trades somewhere to live (more soundsystem devotion: Play for the Floor).

What are the best Lost Lands outfit themes?

Mechanical Kraken cotton sleeveless hooded tank with mirrored teal and silver tentacles

The best Lost Lands outfit themes play with the festival's prehistoric world: dinosaurs, fossils, jungle explorers, lost civilizations and sea monsters from the age before maps. Bass crowds love a bold concept, and a shared theme helps a crew find each other across a sold-out valley. Magus Fawn designs carry the theme without a costume shop.

  1. Lost world expedition. Explorer hats, binoculars and an inflatable dinosaur riding on one shoulder.
  2. Fossils and treasure. Bone, amber and gold, as if the outfit was dug out of the valley floor. Our Egyptian Atlantis cloak (below) is pure buried-temple gold.
  3. Machine age. Riddim sounds like heavy machinery having a great time, so dress like the machine: chrome, circuitry and mech armor.
  4. The deep. Before anything walked, life swam. Tentacles, sea-monster blues and silver scales.

For the deep: our Mechanical Kraken design is the monster from the edge of the old maps, rebuilt by an engineer: tentacles curl up around a cathedral spire of silver and teal filigree on slate. The Mechanical Kraken cotton sleeveless hooded tank ($80, XS–5XL) keeps the hood and drops the sleeves for the packed crowd up front.

Crew rule of thumb: one theme, a different garment for each person.

Lost Lands outfits for men and women

Blue Acid Oasis rave joggers for men in liquid cobalt, turquoise and magenta swirls

Lost Lands outfit ideas for men and for women start in the same place: comfort first, art second, and nothing that gives up halfway through a two-hour headbang.

For the guys (and anyone on the rail): joggers are the half of the bass uniform you'll wear all weekend. Our Acid Oasis design is pure liquid marbling, and the blue colorway swirls cobalt, turquoise, magenta and violet down each leg like oil on water under the lasers. The Blue Acid Oasis joggers ($100; $105 in 2XL, $108 in 3XL) are 308 g/m² with brushed vegan fleece inside, cuffed legs, side pockets and an elastic waist with a drawstring. They run slim in XS–3XL, so for a looser fit order one or two sizes up.

Enochian Vision Purple crushed velvet crop hoodie with a gold sigil panel on dark violet velvet

For the women (and anyone who likes a cropped line): our Enochian Vision design takes its name from the angelic magick of the Elizabethan scholar John Dee, and the purple colorway runs a gold panel of sigils down the front, crowned by a star seal, over dark violet velvet. The Enochian Vision Purple women's crushed velvet crop hoodie ($75) is 240 g/m² crushed velvet with long sleeves and a drawstring hood, in S–2XL. Zip a cloak over it when the valley cools.

Rail-rider details:

  • Earplugs. Huge bass production deserves ears that last; the NIDCD recommends earplugs around loud sound.
  • Closed toes. Sneakers with grip keep you upright in the crowd up front.

How do you layer for a 40-degree night in Legend Valley?

Cyber Punk Mech men's hooded rave cloak from the back, teal, violet and gold machinery

Layer in three moves: a dry base you can dance in, a velvet or fleece middle, and a hooded outer layer that zips. Lost Lands nights usually sit in the 50s °F and sometimes slip into the 40s, so dress for the walk back to camp, not the warm crowd. Magus Fawn's faux-fur-lined cloaks cover that hour.

Cool air settles into low ground after dark, and a warm crowd hides it until you step out. Plan for that moment:

  1. Base: a tee, tank or crop top, swapped for a dry one as the night cools.
  2. Middle: crushed velvet up top and brushed-fleece joggers below. A Lost Lands night is genuine hoodie-and-jogger weather.
  3. Outer: a zip-front hooded cloak. Ride it open for the headliner, then zip up and hood up for the walk to the tents.

For him: our Cyber Punk Mech design is what riddim would look like if you could see it, mirrored machinery in teal, violet and gold, with white sacred-geometry linework running across the shoulders and down the spine. The Cyber Punk Mech men's festival cloak ($250) is the machine-age theme in its warmest form.

For her: Lost Lands, meet the lost continent. In Plato's telling, the Atlantis story reached Athens by way of priests in Egypt, and our Egyptian Atlantis design wears that legend in gold on black: an eye medallion between the shoulders, a tree of life, pyramids, falcons, jackal figures, temple columns and a row of sphinxes along the hem. The Egyptian Atlantis women's festival cloak ($250) looks like treasure carried up out of the valley.

Both cloaks share one build: a micro-mink poly outer, an ultra-soft fluffy microfiber fleece lining in black or white faux fur (listed fabric weight 200 g/m²), a double front zipper, heavy drawstrings and four pockets, two of them interior stash pockets (one zippered). They're unisex in XS–5XL, and our FAQ suggests sizing up, "sometimes even 2 sizes up to fit extra layers under."

Nicholas put it plainly in a December 2023 review of a Sacred Grounds cloak: "Fell asleep with it on. Kept me warm all night." That's a cloak's second job on a camping weekend.
